Yeah the titles are working but what’s in them is probably settled. Curious what new type of spell means
My guess would be some sort of Red Wizard of Thay deal. But there are other possibilities.

Updated runic magic? That would be a fairly reasonable possibility.

Psionics? That would definitely be a different type of spell, but it would be odd to introduce here (instead of in, say, a Dark Sun setting), since psionics has historically existed in the setting, but only in a minor way. And calling psionics "spells" would definitely be a trigger for some.

Epic Level spells? While also part of the setting, they haven't existed for some centuries, as they were forbidden by Mystra herself after the whole Netheril debacle. Also, it would be hard to see how they would fit in, given 5e's hard level 20 limit and nerf on higher-level spell slots. But their remnants from Netheril and elven high magic (mythals) still linger, so maybe that?

I think its somekind of Planar magic developed by Thay, but whether it's just Abyssal or can be adapted to other planes remains to be scene.

Or maybe it's something else entirely, but ever since I got Worlds & Realms I can shake the feeling it's a preview of the new magic spells.

I would do spellfire as a sorcerer subclass with a reskinned eldritch blast, getting invocation-style upgrades as subclass abilities. Not really a new type of spell. It's not really a spell in the book.

"A new type of spell"? Well Tasha's introduced a new approach to summoning spells, and "Emanation" is a new mechanic. It could be new in terms of mechanics rather than lore.

A sourcebook about psionic powers will be generic for all the settings, and it is a lot of playtest to be sold no so good.

You can sell a psionic handbook but to sell a second or a third book of psionic powers is harder.
