The Warlock, what a great assasin!!

Of course most people being assinated would likely be NPCs with far fewer hit points than the heroic level PCs.

Unless assassination is a skill challenge rather than a combat challenge so long as you aren't actually engaged.

I'm drawing a blank here. What kind of mob uses stealth and assassination like this?

I think he was better referring to the Warlock class in WoW, which is well known for harrassing players will lots and lots of fear and ongoing damage spells :(

Yes, only ever choke kittens. :p

My problem with the pregen Warlock is the pregen Wizard. Eldrich blast does an average of 9hp. Magic Missile does and average of 9hp. Witchfire does average 10, Force orb does average 13.

Ok, the debuffs are nice but if a Striker is all about damage infliction...

Don't get me wrong, I like the Warlock class. But as an assassin? Also, the Wizard gets +9 to Stealth checks! Warlock: +0.

I have to admit, I want to get my hands on the rules JUST to create a better Warlock than the Pregen we've been lumped with. This particular one's a little on the weak side. I don't know when I'd use Ray of Frost over Eyebite... sorta useful but...

I'll admit that Curse of the Dark Dream is awesome, though. But to assassinate someone with that you'd have to be really sneaky: target the victim through a window, maybe slide him/her off the edge off the edge of a cliff. But then, with that Stealth skill, getting away is going to be hard, Eyebite and Ray of Frost aren't going to hit all the time.

If the warlock was trained in Stealth it would be more efficient. A PC warlock using Eyebite would be hard to defend against, though. If the warlock's mark is alone, the warlock would do 2d6+Cha once per round, with an action point the damage would be 6d6+3xCha in 12 seconds if all attacks hit. If the warlock gets a surprise round, it could do the daily power first, walk the victim into a fireplace or out of a window and follow up with eyebites. Unless the guards come within 12-18 seconds, the warlock can kill the victim and teleport outside when the victim dies.

Oh, I totally agree with that, med stud.

My problem isn't with the Warlock class, to be clear, it's more the PREGEN Warlock that annoys me.

I will apologize for one thing, though. I did forget about Warlock's Curse, gomen. That kicks up the damage significantly, although... the place on the enemy nearest to you makes it tricky for our window assassination scenario. Not impossible, but tricky.

I take it back, there is a kernel of a good assassin there, but like I said, I'm itching to make one up that'll work better for my play style. I see what people mean about Warlock/Rogue types, Warlock's Curse + Sneak Attack (with combat advantage) on a daily attack... ouch. If a Path lets you do ranged arcane sneak attacks... bigger ouch.

Pretty sure we're going to see alot of Tiefling Warlocks stacking Bloodhunt and Infernal Wrath with Prime Shot and Warlock's Curse. No wonder they mentioned it in the cartoon.

Great, now I'm not sure what the source of my unease with the Pregen Warlock actually is now. Maybe Warlock's Curse seems a little fiddly... not bad but... it could make some situations needlessly tricky. Or maybe it's still the lower Charisma bonus and Stealth (more likely) when I sorta feel like the Warlock should be sneakier than the Wizard.

-facefaults-

Or maybe I just wanna make an Infernal pact with Glasya. :D
