The Wii May Be the Bane of Roleplaying

If the Wii had HD graphics I'd probably consider buying one when I get my HD TV next year. I'll buy a 360 to go with that. But as others have said, this is going to kill RPG's like WoW was, or Magic was, etc.

Are your RPG sessions as limited as limited options you have in a RPG on a console? Regardless of if you press the X button or flick your wrist, you only can do A&B on a console where in D&D you can usually do anything.

I played through all of the Wii sports games for about a couple of hours at a friends house and I have a question...does the control get any better with the later games?

Frankly, while it was fun to punch with the control and move around, and its certainly far ahead of any such technology from the past, the controls didn't feel real to me. After a few hours of practice, boxing still felt like I was just tossing my arms out crazily rather than having fine control of the action with my movement.

I'm I right about this, or did I just not get enough practice?

I've found shooting Nazis highly entertaining since Return to Castle Wolfenstein. :D

Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

Noob!

In my day, we killed Nazis in 16 colors - and we liked it! And their dogs, too! And when you shot them, then you ate their dog food from bowls on the floor! We had four weapons, and that's all we needed to kill Hitler himself!

:D

Most of the people on that site wouldn't be RPG players in any case. The first time they picked up a d4, they'd accidentally fling it across the room and put the DM's eye out.
LOL

Try explaining that one when you get to hospital. :)

You got 16 colors? In my day, we got 6 colors. None of this fancy '2 different shades' of blue for us.

what do tabletop RPGs really have to offer me anymore?
An entirely different experience.

I've liked my SNESs/PlayStations/etc (not to mention golfing, skiing, and movies) more than tabletop RPGs for almost 20 years now.

Hasn't stopped me from playing tabletop RPGs.

16 colors? Noob! In my day, we killed Nazis in monochromatic goodness and then, once we were done with killing them, we infiltrated their base in the sequel!
