Video games are not high on priority list in the 'Fun' part of my life. Plus the interface of the Wii doesn't appeal to me. It isn't affecting this gamer. Besides, I'd rather buy a book over a video game anyday.

Another Futurama fan! Mayhaps there is some hope for the Eberron game I want to run.

The one set in New New Sharn where the characters discover a delivery boy in temporal stasis who happens to be related to the epic-level artificer that runs their delivery company. The party will include a warforged rogue with an insanely high strength, a chuul healer, and a daelkyr mutant with one eye. They'll be based out of their blue/green airship and have various sundry adventures across Khorvaire. Sound like fun?

I'm waaaay late to this, but I'll chime in anyway.

Last night I sat down to GM my first session in over two years. I had so much fun and most of all, it was great to meet new people. I have enough solo hobbies. I game because of the human contact and friendships.

So now I am asking myself, what do tabletop RPGs really have to offer me anymore?

If a video game can replace your roleplaying game, then I am glad I was not part of your roleplaying group.

Hmmm...I game and play REAL sports without the Wii.

I don't think it will be the "Bane of Roleplaying"...though it may cut into a particular gamer's book-buying budget.

Meanwhile I'll start statting out Morbo as the scout for the daelkyr invasion, Richard Nixon as a brain in a jar atop a warforged juggernaut, and definitely the Globetrotter home plane.

The joy of RPGs (for me, anyway) is the wide-open sense of wonder and possibility. No saves and reloads, no hint books or cheat codes, no levels or zones, and no patches and bugs.

Now I wouldn't say there are no patches or bugs. What exactly was 3.5 if not a "patch" to the game system. And for that matter, errata and the FAQ should fall in the same category. As for bugs, well, have you ever tried grappling? That always slows my system down.
