Hey mate! :)

Thanks UK! That was just what I was asking for.
The use of Worshipper Points is simply excellent!! :)

Glad you like it! :)

I always try and go for the simplest and most logical mechanic in my design.

In fact, I like it so much I almost forgive you for saying what you said about Barcelona F.C. on the old boards ;)

Hey, if you play us (meaning Liverpool) in our current form you'll beat us 5-0.

At least a name

Yeah ! At least, this board is no more called something silly like 66.34.55.203 or so. Much better.

I just have the time to say a little hello, so
Hello !
Mmh, this was a big hello. Let's try again:
Hello !
Good, that was a little hello.

So, the WPS could be finished in a mere 6 weeks ? That's too good to be true, I fear :D :p !

Gez mate! :D

Glad to see you are able to post again! :)

Hey! Fear is not an option! :D

I forsee many late nights of work ahead for a certain individual who shall remain nameless!

Hi UK!

The Worship Points System presents rules for allowing player characters to become deities, and not just in the familiar guise of other Immortal based RPGs where the Deities are simply powerful characters, but outlining the fundamental relationship between a deity and their worshippers (something RPGs will mention but never detail).
The FR novels 'Shadowdale', 'Tantras', 'Waterdeep','Prince of Lies' and 'Crucible' describe mortals becoming gods and the resulting problems: madness, lack of responsibility, loss of portfolios, divine trials, imprisonment etc.. Does the WPS cover such events?

Thanks in advance!

madness,

I think if I determined a mechanic whereupon PC gods became mad they might feel chagrinned.

There is the Madness Portfolio of course. ;)

But there is nothing to say Deities will naturally 'go' mad. They could of course have madness inflicted upon them. People can go mad - but there is no natural mechanic in the Core Rules for it.

Court Jester said:
lack of responsibility,

Worship Points sort of negate this. Soul Deities have a duty and responsibility to attend to their Faith (worshippers).

Again this seems like something to be roleplayed rather than determined for you.

Court Jester said:
loss of portfolios,

Yes. In a variety of ways.

If you are implying where they could be taken away by a more powerful being then it sort of depends on the individual campaigns cosmology.

Something like the Forgotten Realms where one deity can 'chop and change' portfolios at their leisure would handle this easily. Or even if the deity was a member of a Pantheon and deliberately broke Pantheon Laws.

Incidently Portfolios are determined by the DM and the Player in the WPS - not simply assigned or bestowed because you defeated someone with that Portfolio (which is a bit silly if you ask me).

Court Jester said:
divine trials,

Yes. Covered in Pantheon chapter.

Court Jester said:
imprisonment etc..

Yes. As well as the criteria to unravel it.

Only in so far as the events would be tangible. Trials; Imprisonment and Loss of Portfolios would be tangible events, whereas natural madness and lack of responsibility are not.

Such events

Hey no problem mate! :)

Hey, U_K!

Huzzah! Well, I figure this is as good a place as any to make my first post on the dark shiny new boards :)

Well, I'm still drooling over the WPS, even though I've lost track of it a couple times due to Real Life Stuff (TM).

One small side effect is that it's giving me bad, bad thoughts of making my own pantheon to try out the system, necesitating a new campaign world or obliterating the Forgotten Realms dieties.

Hey, either one could be fun :)

Anyways, good luck, and... don't suffer some untimely death/sickness/dismemberment that will keep you from finishing, ok?

*goes back to calculus* Calculus > Me

I had already rated it ***** yesterday. I think this thread, as the inheritor of all previous WPS threads, deserved it. Even if I don't have much things to comment or ask left, I'm still is very interested by this project, and as willing as before to do proofreading or beta-testing.

...You'll all be happy to hear that minus one or two sentances just got off putting another chapter to bed there! ;)

Hey Wolfspirit mate! :)

Hey! I've lost track of it myself from time to time! ;)

Creating a Pantheon is relatively straigtforward. All the mechanics in the WPS are designed to be as simple as possible so there shouldn't be any real problems.

It will be very interesting to see how closely WotC's ideas parallel my own!?

You could have a Pantheon vs. Pantheon clash or even a Pantheon Civil War.

According to the mortality calculator website I am going to live until 102...so with any luck I should have the work finished before I snuff it, fingers crossed!? ;)
