The WotC forums are making me feel old

So true. I feel young here.

And then over on WotC, while I feel oddly older for knowing about 2e stuff (though I didn't play DnD till 3e) I feel like I'm talking to a gang of 12 year olds half the time, which is probably closer to reality than not..
I think it's worse that we're stuck in the middle! We have the old geezers telling us that 1e is better than any addition, we have young d3wds telling us that 3e is better than any addition, and then both of them reject Planescape games because "that's not how the planes work" in their system :p

Even though I run PS in 3.5e, I still use 2e fluff. That pesky 3e Manual of the Planes book has made my players think I don't know what I'm talking about so many times:

Me: There's a light condensation this morning in Sigil when you step out onto the street.
Player: I thought that there is no weather in Sigil.
Me: I've told you before, MotP was written by Primes. I use 2e PS fluff first and 3e MotP fluff second if I have to. Don't believe everything you read in MotP!

Ok, I went way off topic for some reason. As I was saying about being old...back in my day....

I was reading a thread in the WotC Eberron forums about Glassteel. With around 20 replies, the general concensus was that it was a Forgotten Realms spell that's been around since 2E. No mentions of 1st edition, any early module appearances, etc.

I much prefer a forum like this where a good percentage of the people have memories that go back further than mine ;) (Although the Eberron discussion is usually pretty good over there, mostly thanks to Keith's presence).
Dern kids and their hula hoops and Pac-man video games! ;)

I am wondering if feeling old is really bad when it comes to gaming. I am very glad that I feel older on the various boards, as it leads me to believe that there is a growing next generation of gamers that will carry on, instead of a bunch of old curmudgeons bickering with each other over the fine details of obscure rules.

It wasn't that there are young gamers.. Indeed, in my D&D game starting tonight, everyone is younger than me, and at least two possible players are teenagers.

My issue was that in about 20 posts, not a single person remembered or could find out it was a 1st edition spell. My generation of gamers was absent, or indifferent.

Well, I hope the number of people who have recognized the location of the spell here make you feel at home and at a medium age as opposed to old.
