no, let them nova, they do not know what day will turn out short. If you want to blow all your resources and two encounters, I am not going to stop you
Sure they do. If they want to make it short, it’ll be short. Tiny Hut is a thing, as is just going back to town.

At you table, how much real-life-time is taken up by the party taking a short rest?

At my table 80%+ of the time it's the GM saying "OK you rest. Spend HD and regain whatever you get" and play resumes after some people roll a few dice and update their HP tally sheets.
it's not about real life time, it is about offering more flexibility and interesting decisions. If I regain everything on a short rest, then I short rest after every encounter, no decision needed as to what skill to use when, no consequences to going all out in this encounter

agree to disagree, this is going nowhere. As far as I am concerned everything on long rest and only healing on short rest is far superior to a mix or everything on short rest.

no, getting rid of restrictive pacing
And making resource management less dynamic in the process
no more or less than you already have
Far more than you would have if a mix of at-will, encounter, and daily resources was standard.
not if there are no interesting choices. Do I use my 'every encounter skill' this encounter or the next? oh, wait...
The question is, which of my several spells should I spend one of my two spell slots on, of which I can probably use one safely? Or should I use both of them, at the risk of not having one in the next encounter? Or do I save them to use both in the next encounter? Or should I use my 1/day Mysytic Arcanum? Maybe if I use both my spell slots now, the Mystic Arcanum will be enough to get me through the next fight without a spell slot.
