It's so cool that everyone has different things they like (and dislike). The awesome thing about D&D is ... you don't have to use all of the toys in the box. :)

They'd revoke my D&D gamer's license if they knew...

...that (most of the time) I prefer roll-playing to role-playing.

...that I have an irrational distaste for everything "Forgotten Realms" and "Dragonlance".

"I dislike the disconnect between the Half-Dragon template and the rarity of the dragons that can polymorph.
Accordingly, dragons IMC have a magic sex ray that turns the next offspring of a given creature into a Half-Dragon."

Oh, here's the germ of an idea ... dragon's auras have a strong but subtle magical influence on other creatures that "over-prints" their physiology over long term exposure. Embryos and unfertilzied eggs are particularly vulnerable. Knowing this is one of the reasons dragons tend to avoid other creatures, at least lawful dragons, because they don't want to create half-dragons like this all over the place. I may have to develop that thought some more ...

Bah, humbug - I see your "variety is the spice of life" and raise you a "wrong bad fun"!

I never carry a ten-foot pole. I'm of above-average height in real life, and I've carried 10' poles before. I can't conceive of lugging one through a dungeon or the forest.

Istalindir for president! I think the 10 foot pole is one of the most absurd things that some people think of as necessary. I would rather have my character die than lug around a 10 foot pole. Its very concept is anathema to everything I enjoy about adventuring as far as I'm concerned. The 10 foot pole should be buried where it belongs! Viva la revolution!

I also hate puzzles, but I love traps.

My dislikes:

Alignment

Vancian magic

Magic based on 5 weird energy types instead of the 4 classic elements.

Wizards have to drop 100 gp per spell level to add a spell to their arsenal.

Shaolin monks, ninja and samaurai in a medieval europe-esque setting.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to prep for my Arcana Evolved game. :D

You might also be interested in Ars Magica, given that list.
