. . . that I dislike The Lord of the Rings and nearly everything Gygax and Arneson took from it for D&D (except when those elements have been seriously reinvented).
. . . that I think the Monty Python films are shab-eriffic compared to the series which no-one ever seems to quote (beyond the parrot sketch).
. . . that my primary inspirations for gaming come not from the themes and tropes of fantasy but from the themes and tropes of science fiction, especially of the variety that examines the impact of social phenomena rather than technological development.
. . . that I've never been to either an Australian-style (all gaming, all the time!) or American-style (gaming, seminars, dealer's rooms, product launches!) convention, and that I probably never will.
. . . that my favourite D&D campaign to date was a Planescape campaign with a majority of evil PCs, and where my human alienist who underwent some spontaneous mutation was the most normal character. Hell, even a fill-in PC who was a human fighter/rogue ended up donning a helm of opposite alignment and declaring himself a paladin of Cyric . . .
