Things you'd like to see from WoTC but never will...

I would like to see some epic campaign uber-modules that contain pre-drawn, color battlemaps for use with miniatures. These can either be modules that cover just one location, like Temple of Elemental Evil and Undermountain, or modules that cover several locations and involve travel, such as the old Giants/Spider Queen series.

But the battlemaps are a must. If they made up sheets for ever room or encounter area, in color and with everything in place except the monsters, and with the grids marked off. The problem with the vinyl battlemats you have to draw is that they take too long, and they never look good. I currently pre-draw the rooms and encounter areas of any adventure I run on blank battlemap sheets with grids, but they would look much better in color with the proper terrain or furnishings represented.

It's nice to be able to tell the party, when they step through a door, "This is the room," and just lay down a color representation of the room already drawn.

These would go well with their new pre-painted miniatures, too.

A second edition of d20 Wheel of Time,

But for the Wheel of Time suplements to be in the spirt of the WoT novels, they would have no useful info in them. Just like how nothing happened to advance the plot in the novels. ;)

i've been hounding (T)Ed Stark about doing a Complete Idiots Guide to Roleplaying.

he keeps telling me the community would never buy it.

but i keep telling him to just read a few of the messages on various message boards. :D

I like this idea a lot.

However, I imagine the cost of doing this would probably be prohibitive. BUT, it would not be prohibitive if they were released as a web enhancement (1 room/page). I wish all d20 companies could do this (especially Necromancer Games, since they are amongst the best adventure-makers out there, IMO).

I had not expected so many responses!

What started out as a semi depressed, semi rant turned into a cool thread with some really neat ideas that will never see the light of day. ;)

I could possibly handle a Magic the Gathering RPG but if Harry Potter ever sees print I'll quit rpg's forever and just play Yahtzee.
:D

It's doable.

D20 Modern is only 385 pages and it's got character creation, rules, combat, gm advice, monsters, spells, psionics, magic items, etc.
This is true. However, D&D has much more to it, especially in the DMG. To me, that would be sacrificing too much to make an inferior book. Additionally, there are elements stripped from d20M like alignment, races, classes, magic item creation, the planes, epic level play, encounter tables and traps. Not to mention that many spells, magic items and creatures have already been removed just to get the page count that low. I guess I just don't see the point.

No big.

a XBox D&D rpg that uses the KotOR engine!

- and takes place in Mystara!
...or Dark Sun!
...or Planescape!

...damn, thinking about this made me realize what I *really* want:
a XBox D&D rpg that uses the KotOR engine - and takes place on Scarn!!!

Nah. The supplements could be New Spring-ish historicals, and so actually good.

Seriously, Al-Qadim 3.5 for starters.
Seconded, even if it means farming the license out as has been done with Ravenloft, & Dragonlance.

Masque of the Red Death 3.5 - with some freaking supplements this time!

hmmmmm... might this count as Ravenoft?

A re-print of RoboRally.

Seconded and thirded. Geez, they could even put Hasbro's name on it!
