Thrown weapons in melee?

I know that using any ranged attack in melee grants the enemy an opportunity attack, and that aside, I was wondering if thrown weapons were legal in melee? For example, if one were to throw a dagger in melee to get prime shot, would it work? I'm trying to find something that says otherwise, and I'm not seeing it.
I know it seems a little silly to do, but I'm just making sure it's within the rules.

You can attack with a melee thrown weapon (light or otherwise) at an adjacent foe, normally. You'll just provoke an Opportunity Attack.

It's perfectly legal, and in fact, some builds or Archer Ranger do just that, using Prime Shot and Defensive Mobility coupled with a defender marking the foe to speed up the process of bringing that evildoer down.
