Tiefling Paladin/Rogue

I like the ability to Hide/Move Silently though. I would consider dropping some strength in favor of weapon finessing. If you go the light weapon route, you won't need strength for combat. Keep charisma, it will help with many of the rogue class skills, the paladin smite abilities, and also the DC of your daze attack from Devotional Inquisitor. Wisdom is good for perceptional things and some paladin abilities, so it probably can't be neglected. Constitution won't be as important if you sneak and dodge with your probably-rather-high dexterity score. Intelligence is nice for skill points, but I don't know if I'd increase it very far from the starting score, since you get +2 for being a tiefling.

So in summary, my vote is for high dex, since that can eliminate some need for strength and constitution, partially increased intellgence and wisdom to help with skills/abilities, but with more points in wisdom, since you get an INT bonus, and lots of points into charisma.

The game this character will be playing in is at 7th level, so we can feel free to assume he'll be a sixth level character, because Tiefling is an ECL+1 race, of course.

Another point to consider; if Shadowbane Inquisitor is going to be a PrC to go into, it requires Power Attack. Aren't bigger, two handed weapons much better with Power Attack than something I'm going to Weapon Finesse with?

Oh, wow, I missed the part about the heavy armor and big sword.

If that's really what you want your character to look like, you should listen more to silentspace and less to me. I just liked the more stealthy concept of a rogadin (palogue?).

I'm not necessarily into the idea of a heavy armored paladin. Something more subtle... maybe something of the medium range, made of mithril to lighten it up. As for the weapon, though, that is up in the air.

I just see the stealthy rogue/paladin using a big sword.

Shadowbane Inquisitor in Complete Adventurer is a Paladin/Rogue class.

+1 LA and low CHA of Tiefling race will not favor the built, though.

You're totally right, the character will /not/ easily fit the build, but that's for me what makes it interesting. Trying to compensate, make it playable in the end. Which is why I brought the idea here. :)

IMO, stealth is overrated - too easily foiled by any creature with darkvision or other SQ abilities. Why not focus on CHA, and go the Bluff/Disguise route?

Edit: Oops I am far too late. All is mentioned already.

I just now read the Shadowbane Inquisitor class - if you're determined to go with that, you do need power attack, but it's definately not anti-stealth - you get sacred bonuses on stealth with some abilities. A greatsword-wielding character that hides in shadows is an unusual build indeed, but it can probably be pulled off. It does sound like you've got quite a bit to balance. I don't think I've ever seen a power/sneak attack performed by anyone, but this is an interesting character. You might still be able to get away with a lower strength, if you can constantly flank your opponents to get sneak attack and smiting damage every once in a while, and the bonus to hit.

Have you considered becoming a blackguard? I don't think your DM would allow devotional inquisitor to work with that, but maybe you'll get lucky. Your sneak attack bonuses would definately stack. It's probably more fitting of a stereotypical tiefling too. I don't know if your DM would object to you being evil, however, or if the idea appeals to you at all.
