Tired of d20? Not at all.

Tired of D&D? My god yes, I am sick unto death...

Right now (because of a new hobby) I have had to drop one of my gaming sessions. Here's a list of what I had going until recently.

• D&D 3.5 Freeport set in the Realms. Meets every other Wednesday. I just play.
• Mutants & Masterminds. Meets every other Tuesday. I co-GM.
• D&D 3.5 Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. One Saturday a month (I GM, and we are almost done).
• Ars Magica 5th ed. I co-GM. One Saturday a month.

Guess which one I dropped...

Yup. The one game that I am just a player in, the D&D Freeport game. I would consider staying in that game since it is a nice break from GMing, but I am sick of the hack and slash mentality that D&D promotes and which that game in particular seems to revel in.

The whole kick down the door, miniatures based, hyper-detailed combat, kill the monster and take its loot, style of play makes me tired.

I would be tempted to drop the RttToEE game, but I am the GM, we're almost done, and for some reason with that game, I can view it as more of a tactical wargame than an actual roleplaying game, so I will continue it until we are finished up.

Once I have some free time, I would love to give Blue Rose a whirl. On top of that, a friend and I are working on a Blue Rose science fiction campaign, that looks to be fairly promising. Maybe once RttToEE is finished we can switch over to that.

I'm a bit surprised by the number of folks who like d20 but are tired of D&D. I thought I was pretty unusual for feeling the same!

Of course, this thread probably self-selects for folks with that opinion though.

Tired of d20 D&D system yet? Finding yourself wandering more and more often to other games?

No, when I get tired its mostly because my imagination is running empty rather than the system getting old.

Nope, I love the game, both the d20 mechanics and D&D as a whole. I'll start running an Eberron campaign this weekend and I'm very much looking forward to it. My recent Forgotten Realms campaign ended succesfully with the PCs beating up the main villain, but after that I got a bit tired of Forgotten Realms and then Eberron dumps into my lap. How lucky can you possibly be!? :)

d20 is good. 3.0 and 3.5 D&D just made me never want to play it again. Not just the rules, the way the rules inspire certain people crunch stats and feats and classes, and the never ending list of feats and classes that have come out for every single possible idea, even if it's only a slight tweak from someone else's idea that was only a slight weak from...yeah, you see the point.

I'm all about d20 modern now, even though I really don't have much time to play (new jobs and moving to a new state don't help). I will likely tire of d20 modern once more people tire of D&D and start munching out d20 modern.

I am into 'new' implementations of d20 like M&M, but I haven't been real into the comic book scene in about 15 years, so I doubt I'd get the same enjoyment out of it as someone who still enjoys comics.

I think I'm just getting old. 15 some odd years of gaming has tired me out (and i know a lot of you have been gaming longer), and it's good to just sit back and relax and let my ideas come and do some good gamer reading and less worrying about what feat I'm going to take 6 levels down the road.

I paid Driddle $37 to create a thread in which I could subtly pimp

EN Mini-Games

Clever, huh?

Very clever. I hear you managed to get a talented artist to work on Gun-Fu: Balletic Ballistics.

... sorry couldn't help that.
