If I remember correctly with the old Red Box we received a couple of different coloured crayons, so that we could properly mark those dice that ultimately became chipped and round. The "roll forever" D10s and D20s.

I took away one of my players' old D20's of that sort because he kept insisting on rolling it for years, threw it out a window, and gave him a replacement.

(And no, after literally years of watching him roll that 20 sided spheroid, I would not have cared in the least if he was soggy about it. He just looked a bit nonplussed)

I had a player who used one of those and always sort of aimed it at the edge of the table. If it looked like it would be a good number then he'd save it from falling off. If not then, "Oops! It fell." He was the sole reason that I instituted the "it it falls off the table it's a miss/failure" at my gaming table.

The person I referred to was not allergic to pulling stunts like that, but really he was just perverse about using that damned die no matter what.

Some of us are fond of our old dice. I have several that I've had longer than I've known anyone in my life besides my parents and sister.

Some lucky beggar is getting a D20, that has to be fully two feet across, as a Kickstarter reward for "The Gamers: Dorkness Falls." I say "lucky, but I think they paid US$10K for the privilege.

looking at the rewards, i'm guessing that person was the first to see it ,since there's another tier for 10,000 and it has 8 backers.

When you only have the one prop, you can only do the one specialized reward. I've seen similar on other Kickstarters that were giving away their props.

And I'm pretty sure that it was seen by a bunch of people, before it was ultimately pledged for. I saw it and was maybe backer #50 ;) I have a guess as to who got it and he's been on-screen in a bunch of productions, because of the levels at which he generally backs. Nice guy. I met him on the set of JQ3, when I was there for the wrap party. I wouldn't have been there, otherwise, but I was the ride for one of the actors.
