Today I learned +

Today I learned that the reason that the numbers 6 and 9 are not in the Sorry game is because they think people are too dumb to tell the difference.
To be fair, I hear "Is that a six, or a nine?" at least twice at each D&D session. I don't think that's because my players are particularly dumb.

I could see just opting to exclude them in a child's game for the sake of simplicity.

I don't believe in the no-win scenario

A lot of fancy dice are nearly impossible to read.

The poor gal who's playing a monk in my campaign spent the whole two first sessions failing almost every attack and skill check roll. Luckily someone else eventually noticed that her fancy D20 was actually a D10 with the numbers doubled.
Yeah, I've had that, when someone had to borrow another player's dice for the session. His normal dice luck was so bad that nobody noticed until he rolled a natural 0.

Sure, but that's not the fault of the number. On those dice I often hear, "Can any of you tell what number that is? Oh! It's a 12." :p

With the 6 and 9 there are lines at the bottom. It doesn't take a genius to know which is which. It took my 10 year old two times mixing them up to figure it out with Rummikub.

Thats assuming all dice have those lines, or clearly contrasting colors, which they most certainly do not.

If I remember correctly with the old Red Box we received a couple of different coloured crayons, so that we could properly mark those dice that ultimately became chipped and round. The "roll forever" D10s and D20s.
