TOM: Question about Rapid Pact Making Feat

Stalker0

Legend
The flavor text of this feat makes it sounds like its designed for a binder to be able to bind a vestige at the start of combat.

The feat decreases the time needed to do a binding ritual from 1 minute to 1 round. However, it says nothing about the seal itself, which takes 1 minute on its own to create.

So it would seem that I would need to spend a minute to create the seal for the vestige. Of course, this defeats the entire purpose of the feat.

So does the feat basically allow you to write the seal and complete the ritual all in the full round action?

Weren't there some wondrous items that were basically a seal on rolled-up parchment?

Just unroll one of those... :)

Yes there is one.

But even so, technically it would then be a standard action to activate the item, a round to call the vestige, and then 1 round to bind it. For combat purposes that's just too long. Besides I can speed up the binding with a -10 binding check. So if that's all the feat does, it seems pretty crappy.

I'm pretty much agreed with you. I'd roll the pact-making, binding, calling and sign-making into the same 1-minute (or 1/day full-round) action. They're hardly overpowered as it is.

What kind of action is it to use a Vestige Phylactery? (I'm far from my books at the moment. :) )
