Too many books!

I've throttled waaaay back. I just don't have enough game time to mash everything in. Don't read that the wrong way, I've got half a dozen games going at once, but damn! there's a lot of material out there to work with.

Nowadays I pick something up in the store and say, "am I really going to use this?" Since the answer is usually no, I put a lot back on the shelf.

It's a great time to a gamer.

I know, I just ordered AU off of Talon, and am still pouring over 3.5, and then thier's warcraft and minitures and B5 and SG-1 and heck Gamaworld down the road, gads!

Feed the children or feed the habit?

Actually, it seems like that phase of the industry is winding down. Right now, I'm looking at fairly innovative things and new settings that I can raid for homebrews. And I can never have enough monster books. Which is odd, since I generally prefer classed humanoid adversaries -- NPCs essentially instead of monsters. I must need some kind of therapy...
Well that's good. Though I was about to say that despite the decrease in class/race/feat/PrC books, I still don't really see what could be considered innovative, I just realized that there are a few things. Fields of Blood and Cry Havoc are both going to get a close look-over from me, and I'm really intrigued by the SG-1 book (which I think I'll buy for my g/f since she's an insane Stargate nut).

I haven't played in Detroit in a year now. We've got a small group togther here in Windsor and we play whenever time will allow.
Ah well, I haven't driven that far to game in a while either, now that I've found a fair amount of local players. It's a shame in a way, though -- we oughtta hook up from time to time for old times sake. Too bad the Detroit ENWorld Gameday seemed to fall through the cracks. Maybe I oughtta see if I can round up a venue...

Of course, that could just be my perception, as well. I've never been particularly interestedin class/race/feat/PrC books anyway. But, at least, that doesn't seem to be the kind of stuff being released anymore. I'm excited about things like the Warcraft campaign, the Diamond Throne stuff, the steampunk books coming out, etc. -- stuff that is quite a bit different than stuff we've seen before.

What SG-1 Book? My wife is also a Stargate fan. I could well use this for a new campain.

AEG is releasing it. Supposed to be very impressive - I understand some people picked it up at GenCon and said it looked quite good. I'm not sure when it's out in normal stores, though. Sometime in August, I think.

Ahhhhhhhh!

I feel your pain fully, I Just got married this past december (Winter Solstice) and am still trying to get my feet on solid financial ground as a result.

I hav't been able to by any RPG products of any kind in over a year. Trust me, the shakes and hot/cold flashes are starting to get really bad...

Soon, now, very soon....

They had it at GenCon. It was VERRRY pretty.... and honkin' heavy.

Dude, I've totally got the solution for all book woes. I've been practicing it for a while. See, I'm moving to San Diego in May, so all my funds go toward that.

As a result, I am effing poor. But I don't have to worry about a bunch of RPG books (or anything else) to read! :D
