Touch of Madness

I read the blurb for Touch of Madness, the new Dungeon adventure, and thought "hey that sounds very 4E" so I downloaded it.

Sure enough it is set up as a 4E adventure using 3E mechanics for the moment.

“Touch of Madness” is the first installment of The Tear of Ioun, a three part mini-campaign for the Dungeons & Dragons game. Designed for five 10th-level characters, you can easily adapt it for smaller and larger groups of higher or lower level characters by simply adjusting the number of monsters present and the amount of treasure.
The Kortian Valley is a point of light in the otherwise dark world of the D&D campaign. Beyond the town’s borders and the gloomy landscape around, people know little about the world, giving you the ability to drop this community and adventure into any campaign setting you like.

Who the Heck is Ioun?
Ioun is one of the new deities from D&D 4th Edition. A deity devoted to knowledge and prophecy, she is one of several new deities your characters will be able to devote themselves to in the new edition.
In the future, this adventure, and the two in this adventure arc that follow in the coming weeks, will be updated to 4th Edition. To prepare for that eventuality, we went ahead and started using some information from the new edition’s mythology right here.

Based on the monsters and what is known of them for 4E so far it looks like its a 7th or 8th level adventure for 4E, maybe still 10th level.

So it seems to be a springboard to go from Hero Tier to Paragon Tier. There is a local area map for the starting town of Wellspring, along with a more detailed map of the town as well. This would let a DM use this information as a starting point for a collection of adventures to get the PCs ready for the main adventure.

Here is hoping that it is converted soon after the release.

I skimmed over the backstory of the adventure and I think it's really neat. I also like the addition of mystic and prophet of Ioun, Radagast. It's a neat little nod to Greyhawk.

Where was Radagast in Greyhawk? Like Aexalon said, he's originally from Lord of the Rings.

I think it's a typo (aka, a brainfart). The rest of the adventure refers to a "Rastaphon". "Radagast" is only referred to once.

Whoops ... I think I was thinking about Radigast City in GH and somehow combining it with the dude from Middle-Earth.
