Manny is a security guard at the local Wal-Mart. He always wanted to grow up to be a cop, but never had the aptitude or really the smarts to do the job. Of course he views his job at Wal-Mart to be just as vital to the public safety as those working the streets, and goes to great lengths to “regulate” those that would break the rules in his store and around him at all times. He feels its his duty to protect the citizens of Big Woody, whether he’s on or off duty.

That is until…he gets some liquor in him. Once he’s had a drink, Manny undergoes a sort of Jekyll & Hyde transformation. He doesn’t actively try to break the law, but he can easily be talked into doing just about anything. Once that stone gets rolling down the hill, it is too hard to stop. Of course his level of “enthusiasm” is just as high when drunk as it is when sober. Oh yeah, many drinks pretty much whenever he’s off duty.

To put it frankly, Manny is an annoying prick. He’s overanxious to help out the cops when they are around, even when he is drunk. To his benefit, the cops in town know him and can’t stand being around him. They’ll often go to great lengths to leave the area and get away from him, if for nothing else to stop him from slobbering on them.

Manny still lives with his mother in the trailer park his most prized possession is his pepper spray. Many is allowed to carry pepper spray at work—it’s the only thing he’s allowed to carry. Of course, he’s upgraded from what he was issued. He carries around a huge “riot sized” bottle. He says “you’ll never know when you’ll need it, it’s best to be prepared”. He uses it frequently, in fact he usually goes through a bottle or two a week. He carries it both on and off duty.

Manny still lives at home with his mom. He grew up without a Dad—there are a number of theories as to which guy in the park could be his dad, and any one could possibly be true.

Manny has a secret crush on Darlene. They went to school together until he dropped out in grade 8. He’s secretly stashing away some cash to take her out on a date where he’ll confess his undying love to her. He’s got about $8 bucks set aside right now. The only one he’s told about his crush is his best friend XX (maybe, I assume it’d be fun if it was one of the player characters).

Primary Strengths
Decent: 3
Fast: 3
Sexy: 3 (women love a man in a uniform, and he rarely takes his off)
Smart: 1
Social: 2
Strong: 4
Tough: 4

Primary Weakness
A Dick: 5
A Mark: 2
Drunk: 4
Greasy: 2
Greedy: 0
Gross: 2
Stoned: 0

Skills:
Intimidate (Tough, Social or Dick if allowed) Manny’s good at convincing people they need to do something. He’s a big guy, and he’s a dick, so people generally comply to get away from him

I’ll think of some more skills later

Valuables:
-Pepper Spray (riot sized)- this is his baby, entrusted to him to help him regulate
-$8 in a coffee can – The money he’s been putting aside to take Darlene out
-Relationships with cops- He interacts with them a lot. Overzealous is an understatement. They want to get away from him quick, even if it means not fully investigating something
-Shed in back of mom’s trailer- This is his private area to hang out with friends.
- Little brother Nate- Manny has a half brother who is about 15yrs old and by high school standards, cool. Manny treats him like :):):):), but his brother seems to look up to him. There are rumors that Nate might actually be Manny’s kid. Manny gets angry about this, there’s no way it could be true—he doesn’t ever remember sleeping with his mom. Then again, he’s had a lot of drunk nights where he can’t remember what happened. Nate’s got a hot little girlfriend who lives outside the park whose family is rich
- Porn collection- Manny’s got a collection that would make any collector proud. He keeps it in the shed
- Moped- One of those types with the bicycle peddles. Manny saved up and bought this about 7 years ago. He’s painted it black and white to look like a police motorcycle. He’s even painted over the turn indicators so they are blue and red (or whatever appropriate for the location)

I'll do my best. I was brainstorming a bit last night. So far my concept is "Roach", a small time pot dealer, but the big connection in the park.
edward-

You know, one of my posessions/resources is a reliable dealer. Perhaps Roach and Darlene have an existing business relationship. ;)

yangnome--Manny rocks.

Man this game is going to rock. We'll all hold a glass of rum in memorium of TB.

Damn, if I had known about this sooner and if I was going to Gen Con, I figure I would get a seat at the table no matter what...

I am from Halifax Nova Scotia and take a look at my user name, real last name.

Hey Shane -- the rules are there for you to use in your own personal gaming any time.

The rest of you:

1. I like all the characters I see coming in. You guys seem to have got the hang of the system and the spirit of the game. Don't forget to use your primary weakness as a contributing attribute to at least some of your skills. I'll have individual comments to you tomorrow night before I get on my train.

2. We need a venue. Although it would be highly authentic, the cheap motel where I'm staying south of town until I get my complimentary ENnies room on Thursday is way too far out of the way unless people feel like 20 minute cab rides bracketing your game (I'm sure cab-pooling would keep the costs down but it seems a bit much to ask). I would therefore like to ask one of my fine players to provide a hotel room for gaming. Ideally, it would be best to use a room that enabled us to get as far into the spirit of the game as possible (there's a reason I'm taking AMTRAK and not flying ;) ).

If for some reason, the hotel room plan falls through, we'll game by the bar at the EMbassy Suites.

3. It would probably be a good idea if I got everyone's contact info so that ad hoc arrangements can be made. So please e-mail or PM me with a phone number, hotel and e-mail address you'll be at.

4. I'll make sure we have plenty of rum and coke but I probably can't pull off snacks. But if people would like to bring themed snacks, I recommend: chicken chips, dill pickle chips, jalapeno chips, all-dressed chips and, of course, chicken fingers.

I'm psyched. :D

I'd prefer not to get too far into the game theme as it could be a risk to my career. I also don't want to put a damper on the party though, so if that's what the other players want, I'll gladly bow out and let you guys have fun. I'll very likely be taking a test shortly following return and in no way want to miss the job opportunity that lies beyond it. of course, I do plan on drinking through the game. I'd have to check with my roommates, but I might be able to offer my place up for play, which is in the Embassy.

I don't know of any reasons why our room wouldn't work, but I'd have to check with all the roomies. Fett's in the game, and we're going to be arriving just in time for it, so it may actually be more convenient for us. Have to check with Green Lantern, Cinnamon/Strawberry, and her hubby, but since the Wed. gathering will be starting shortly after (or maybe towards the end of) this game anyway, it may not be a problem (except that if the Party starts while the game is still going on, it may be a distraction).

I took that into consideration when coming up with the concept. Internal connections with the party/group is how I prefer to create characters.

I don't think you have to worry about that if we end up gaming at the Embassy Suites Bar :)

We can always grabs some snacks at the ES hospitality drinks and snack bar (which is perfectly in tune with the game seeing as not everyone in the game is staying at the ES) and I'll bring chicken in a biscuit for later.

Fus-I e-mailed you the contact info using EN world's interface, so you it may land in your spam filter. I'll work on integrating being stoned into some skills.
