Traipsing Across Khorvaire - High Adventure in Eberron

The Captain nods as he listens to what you say. He rubs his chin and looks at the map for a long moment. Finally, he looks at you. "I think you're right about going to Drum Keep. I do think you are quite optimistic about our ragtag band making twenty miles a day, though."

The door slams open and a member of Kravith's crew rushes in breathless. "Sir, I think you better come up quick. We're going to be...landing real soon and First Mate says we're going to hit hard. Everyone's in a panic."

The half-elf captain looks at you and with a sudden grin says, "Here we go."

The two of you rush up to the deck. You are both swarmed by panicked faces, tears, and anger.

"We're going to crash!"

"What are you going to do?"

"Help us!"

"We're all going to die!"

"Is this the House Lyrander specialty? Crashing innocent paying passengers in the wild?"

The Captain tries to soothe people, but his voice is continually drowned out and ignored. [Diplomacy roll (Kravith)= failure]

Aalic will get to a place where he can stand above everyone. (More than likely the bridge.) In as loud a voice as he can muster Aalic will yell "Everyone quiet!!!"

"If you want to live, listen to the Captain!!" Aalic will boom.

"First Mate make this as soft a landing as possible." Aalic will look over his shoulder at the man.

Aalic will then look for something to hold onto. He will look up to see what's going to fall.

Everyone stops and looks up at you. Everyone is quiet for a moment. They look around at each other and back to Captain Kravith. He looks up at you, winks, and mouths, "Thanks." Then he looks around at everyone. In a low voice, he says, "We're in a tough situation here. I'm sorry. Panicking and getting upset isn't going to help the matter. I'm going to ask you to trust me to get you all through this safely.

"Now. First things first. We're going to be landing real soon and it's going to be rough. Airships aren't designed to land on the ground like this. Everyone needs to move toward the center of the ship and huddle down. Hold the little ones close. All right?"

People nod and begin kneeling down. The Captain gets his some of his crew to go around and help people while he goes around whispering encouragement.

While he is doing that, the First Mate looks at you and shakes his head. "I'll do what I can, but this isn't going to be a pretty landing."

There's not really anything to hold onto. You could grab onto the base of the upper elemental ring binder, but you're sure that it is liable to break and fall in the "landing." After looking around, you decide on a place near the pilot's box. You can sit up agains the platform and hug your knees.

You get into place and wait. It is oddly quiet. You see Davik holding his wife Thummina and his son Bran. He seems to be mumbling a prayer. Vangelis, the merchant, is weeping softly. The warforged Anvil looks around in curiousity.

Suddenly, you hear the First Mate shout. The ship tips back suddenly and you brace yourself so you don't slide. A scream and then snapping wood. You are thrown forward and you hit your head. Everything goes black.

You come to what seems like only a few seconds later. You seem surrounded by broken and smashed wood. You feel it digging into various places on your body. You can wiggle a little, but not much.

Aalic will try not to move too much. First he will open his eyes and look around without moving too much. After that he will slowly and carefully wiggle his fingers and toes - to make sure they are there.

Next he will slowly try to move. If something hurts he will stop. He will try to make his way clear.

"Is anyone alive? Can anyone hear me." Aalic will mutter, trying to not to overstress anything.

Aalic, you open your eyes and look around. There is a small amount of light filtering in and dust motes twinkle in the air. You see smashed bits of wood and mangled metal pieces piled around yourself. In fact, you realize there is one long sharp piece just inches from your head.

You wiggle around a little bit. If feels like everything is attached that should be and nothing feels broken. You definitely feel bruised and battered, though. You shift a little more, trying to free yourself. You manage to make a little bit more room to move, but your left arm is still mostly immobile and you can barely move your legs. It feels like you the whole ship is on top of you. [Strength check= 13+2= failure]

You try and call out, but it sounds like your voice is absorbed into the rubble. You wait and listen. After a few minutes you think you hear faint voices and muffled movement somewhere nearby.

"Hey is anyone out there? I could use some help! I am stuck! Help!" Aalic will state as he tries to push and clear some of the debris away.

Aalic, you call out and then continue to try and free yourself. Again, you manage to make yourself a little bit more room, but not much. [Strength roll= 13+2= 15]

As you stop to catch your breath, you hear voices again.

"...hear...someone's...there."

"...grab...and...move..."

Boards creek and groan as they sound like they are being shifted around. You feel the pressure on your body let up. More light begins to pour in. Suddenly, you see someone standing over you. He reaches down and grabs you under the arms and pulls you to your feet. It is quite painful. You are covered in scrapes, scratches, and bruises.

Blinking a little, you see one of the Cloud Dancer's sailors in front of you. His uniform is dirty and ripped in several places. With him is the gnome, Namfoodle. The sailor asks, "Are you injured?"

Namfoodle is mumbling under his breathe and rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "It's too bad my laboratory was destroyed. I believe I could have brewed a potion that would heal wounds. I would need some Blackwort leaf and..." He wanders off, still talking to himself.

"No I'm not to bad. Just a few scrapes and bruises. That was one hell of a crash!" Aalic will state to the sailor. "How many survivor's? Are many hurt? Has anybody seen the captain?"

Aalic will look himself over, seeing if any of his gear is missing and making sure it is just a few scrapes and bruises.

Aalic will also try to remember what he can about Blackwort leaf.

When: 18th hour, Second Zol, Dravago
Where: Somewhere southwest of the Blackcap Mountains in Breland

The sailor runs his hand through his blond hair. "We're still digging through the wreckage to see who's left." He points to his left. "Everyone is gathering over there. We haven't found the Captain, yet."

[Knowledge (nature) roll= 11+2= 13] You've never heard of Blackwort leaf.

The sailor goes back to digging through the rubble. Namfoodle starts poking around at some plants. Looking around, you see that the ship is quite demolished. In fact, it is barely recognizable as a ship anymore. A pile of shattered wood and broken dreams is all that remains. You see the large crowd of people gathering not too far from the ship. Most appear to have at least small cuts and bruises. You see a few with obvious broken bones, legs and arms.

A woman cries over the body a small girl. She isn't moving.

A shifter is...howling in apparent agony as a large chunk of wood is pulled from his chest by two men.

The young boy, Bran, is wandering around, red-eyed. "Daaad. Mooom. Where are you?"

Most of the people digging through the wreckage are (were) crewmembers on the Cloud Dancer. You see the pirates standing on the opposite side of the rubble from the passengers. They are exchanging heated looks with several of the passengers. You know there is going to be trouble there.

The sun is slowly making its way down to rest for the night. There are a few hours of daylight left.

Aalic will walk between the growing crowd of passengers and pirates.

"Listen up! The sun is starting to go down. If we want to stay warm I suggest that we start gathering wood and other stuff that will burn." Aalic will state as diplomatically as possible, looking at both groups.

"If you (pointing to the passengers) folks want to start gathering up some rocks and making fire rings that will help. Make the fire rings over there (pointing to an area clear of debris and sure not to create a forest fire)." Aalic will state trying to direct the passengers.

"You men over there (pointing to the pirates) help the other sailors out. Look at that you boy over there (pointing to Bran). He has lost his parents put yourselves in his shoes. How many of you have children!" Aalic will state as clearly as possible.

If you don't want to do that, start gathering up debris from the ship we can start making fires. Its going to get cold tonight and I think you want to get through it. Put the wood over by the fire rings. If you find any supplies or food bring it as well." Aalic will state to the pirates, figuring keeping them busy may at least delay the eventual conflict that is going to ensue.

Aalic will then move over to Bran. "Where were you parents? Were they with you? Where did you come out of the wreckage, we will start looking for them over there."
