Transformers:the Movie trailer out

Well, I was only able to view in the small size non-HD format (stupid stone-age PC :( ), and I'm really hoping that the trailer lost a huge amount in that format, because it just didn't impress me. That said, Michael Bay has a history of films not living up to their trailers, so he must be due one that's far better...

Okay, the trailer looked cool, and I'm not quite as biased against the leaked designs as I was now that I've seen some of them moving.

Still, it is a Michael Bay film... but as delericho said, the man's gotta be due at some point. Let's just hope this is the flick that bucks the trend.

Looks freakin' awesome. There is no one better at over the top than Bay. The Rock & Armageddon are two of my favorite action movies. I can ignore the messes that were Pearl Harbor and The Island. Bad Boys wasn't terrible and I never saw the sequel.

This one is on my must-see list for 2007 along with Spidey 3, Pirates 3 and Shrek 3.

I wish I had your optimism, but bitter experience trumps fervent hope any day of the week.

You know, if it didn't have the name Transformers on the title, I would think this to be a pretty cool alian invasion movie with robots. :) But it's not, it's the friggin Transformers, and I feel those designs are just too far out and alien for my liking, and bear no resemblance to the originals. I'm not saying we should make the robots in the movie similar to the original robots in disguise (nor would I want to, some of the old designs look absolutelty cheesy :p ), but give them updated designs that pay homage to the cartoon while attracting new fans.

Oh yeah, and Michael Bay sucks. End of story. :]

QFT. I don't see this as having much in common at all with the series it takes the name from. :(

Robots from an alien planet bringing their war to Earth...

An evil faction bent on destroying/subjugating humans, and a good faction dedicated to defending humans...

Robots that transform into vehicular modes as a form of disguise...

Young human allies...

Gee, sounds pretty damn similar to the original series to me. They even have the same guy providing the voice of Optimus Prime. The only real differences I see are the actual forms of the Transformers, and I can forgive a director for wanting to take liberties with that.

Besides, it's not as if the forms have been changed too drastically. At least Megatron isn't a freaking fondue pot, or something.
