Trap setting?

The core rules have minimal information on DMG p. 114-115 (under "Building Mechanical Traps" and "Creating Magic Traps").

There are more extensive rules published in WOTC's Song & Silence and the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook (the same ruleset printed in each book).

?

I checked pages 114 and 115 in the DMG and did not see any mention of setting a trap or a DC for such a skill check. Plenty of info on Search/Spot/Disable, but nothing about setting.

Sadly I don't have the two splatbooks mentioned.

The core rules do not have any variable DCs for trapmaking; they merely require the skill Craft (trapmaking) and expenditure of time & gold. I'm assuming you do see the paragraph that precisely spans p. 114-115.

Like I said, more detailed rules are in the supplement books.

Where's Red 5 when needed?

I saw the rules on 114/115 for creft (trapmaking) which is for designing and building the trap, but there's nothing there about setting an already existing trap.

And as I mentioned before I don't have the two supplements mentioned.

I'm hoping someone can summarize a trap setting rule (base DC, what skill or stat can be used). I'm looking for something official/semi-official or recommendations for how to handle it.
