Tripping Snakes

I'd be inclined to allow it if the player can describe it. Spycraft, rather than about how being tripped makes you prone, says that being tripped makes you sprawled. I like that term better.

This is, I believe, the argument that the FAQ takes, which states:

The 3.5 FAQ answer directly after the one you quoted said:
"Things that don’t need limbs for locomotion can’t be tripped.
You can’t trip a snake, a beholder, or a gelatinous cube."

I would say that most things that cannot be Tripped could have movement as part of a Charge stopped by a successful Trip. But that is common sense/house rule territory.
