Good Morrow all! I've been up northeast in Boston enjoying a little of Bean Town's Culture. A little, being stressed as the organizors of this year's Great War Siociety meeting put us in far off Newtown. :D

It was a good conference anywho.

Alright, on to something you actually care about: the Canting Crew.

The CC is done, finished and soon to be released. As of Thursday last it was set to ship out from the printer on May 1. This would put it in stores somewhere in the next two weeks. I was hoping for it a little quicker, but alas some last minute cover problems arose.

This is of course the first in Gary's Gygaxian Fantasy worlds and its going to be a whopper! I'll fire off some PRs on various things in the coming days, but suffice it to say that you've learned all you need to know from Mongoose's Quintessential Rogue (if you haven't go pick it up!) about what you can do as a Rogue. Now with the CC you'll learn how to build a Rogue's society, the city he lives in, people it, place it and tax it! You'll learn his speach and his guild hall organization......plus a few gold chips thrown in here and there!

Hope this helps and dagnabbit, give your retailer a call!

I am going to run a campain this summer set in Kalamar running a thieves Guild. I am not interested in a campain setting. I would like to have a general thieves guild outlined for me as well as some generic plot hooks.

Is this what this product entails?

Bolen,

This is exactly that. The book is not a setting. The first section covers how and what you need to set up a city's society. It comes complete with examples, maps etc etc.

The second section is the various types and heirarchies of the thieves guilds. Gary outlines everything from assassins, thieves, to beggars and so forth. The various titles and names of orgianzational levels are givin in detail. My only regret is that we didn't put in really servicable index to all this info.

The third part is the dictionary of cant. This is very extensive.

After that come d20/LA game mechanics, some appendixes with crimes and punishments, guild types etc etc.

This book gives you the info you need to create a city's underclass and the infamous thieve's guild which peoples everyone's game.

Does that explanation help?

Can we have a sneak peak at the table of contents? I liked the Urban Ranger in Gaming Frontiers 2. A PrC that was fairly easy to get into.

Ding dong digglydo if these pages aren't hard to get into now a days! :D

I'm glad you liked the class Joe, Todd's always had a knack about cutting to the chase and not blanketing his stuff in too much extra. We have a saying around here, "Its all about the pace!" If you can keep the game running smoothly and easily then you can keep a group interested.

As for the table of contents, that's an interesting request (one the illicited a really strange conversation in the office this morning). This book is a World Building Book, its not just about Rogues or Rogueish abilities, its about building a Rogue's society and the city he might live in. Lets see, the table is pretty long (and I'll probably catch flak for this for some reason that is presently beyond me), but here it is:

I like having a glance at the table of contents because more so than the cover, it is a good indication of what's going to be in the book. It does look very interesting. I'm very pleased to see mention of assassins.

It looks like the Cant is geting a very hefty treatment. I'm looking forward to that.

If this book does well, are there plans for others in the series?I remember back in the day, TSR then WoTC, did a local for three of the (then) four core classes. Bastion of Faith, College of Wizardry, etc...
