but the question; if I make a succeful tumble(get behind the foe) is he flat-footed? and can i draw my weapon when Im tumbling? and is the tumbling a 5 step move?

the tumble cannot be a 5 step move because it counts as double your move speed, so going five feet would count against your movement 10 feet.

I am fairly sure you could draw a weapon as part of a tumble, because a tumble is just a complicated move action

i dont think the enemy loses dex to ac: if you were tumbling around someone, they would be watching you the whole time. to make them lose the dex bonus, you have to flank. tumbling is good for when your ally is attacking someone and you want to be behind them to get the quick flank.

just dont go crazy, i just lost my tiefling rogue by failing a tumble check and walking into a sword...that hit a critical...and confirmed...yeah...just dont be stupid

During combat, once an opponent has acted, he is no longer flat-footed. There is no such thing as "behind" the enemy. Combat is constantly changing, combatants whirling around and such, therefore you cannot derive a clear front or back and that's why there is no such concept in D&D. Everyone has 360° action radius. That's what flanking is for to give you bonuses for surrounding an enemy in melee.

A 5'-step is just that, a 5'-step, a minimal movement to adjust your position in combat, while not taking an action to move. Tumbling is a way to negate the AoO provoked by moving. And yes, you can draw a weapon while tumbling, it's still movement.

1) he either is or isn't flat-footed from the start, nothing can make him flat-footed once he is not anymore (there are ways to deny him the Dex bonus to AC, but not with Tumble)

2) you use Tumble as part of a move (except that your speed is reduced), and if your BAB is at least +1 you can draw a weapon during a move; therefore YES you can draw a weapon while tumbling, at least in principle

3) Tumble is used as part of a move to avoid AoO provoked by moving; with a 5ft step you never provoke an AoO and therefore you don't need to Tumble; if you move 5ft as a move action (which is different than a 5ft step, and provokes AoO) for any reason, you can Tumble but since the speed reduction the move counts as 10ft

I think you could interpret the rules either way on drawing while tumbling. Probably allowing it is slightly more convincing, as it is certainly not precluded. Myself, they seem like conflicting activities that are too much to add together. You have to have a +1 BAB to draw during a “normal” move, and the tumble skill to tumble as part of a move...it just seems like the difficulty of combining them should be reflected somehow. Personally, I would rule out the drawing of a weapon at the same time as you are doing everything in your power to avoid attacks. You have to be able to move your body anywhere to do that, I think, while drawing a weapon calls for a specific set of movements that aren’t subject to much change. When you consider that Quickdraw is a feat, this seems like too much for free to me. Allowing it for someone who has Quickdraw would be cool. That isn’t in the rules, though.

Cheers
