Taylar moves directly at the cabin. It is a fairly well built peer and beam structure. Once out of the drying muck, he moves toward Adisakti who happens to be on the side with the door. Taylar manages to open the door and enter the building without making any perceptible sound.

Raven Elk moves up beside the back side of the building blending with some tall reeds for cover. The two men are dressed similarly to the single man found across the bay who had been in charge of another girl. Seeing the two gray-skinned men in closer proximity. It is possible to discern that one is Aedaman, making him Markidian. The other is Faethrin, though his skin is identical to that of the Markidian. The girl, and it is a girl of early adolescence, is also Markidian. The men are attempting to distract her while she fires arrows at a target away from the cabin. The distractions involve pain.

Adisakti blends in with the base of a fairly large willow tree a few strides from the cabin door, keeping an eye out for Taylar. He can observe the men and girl, as well.

The cabin is sparsely furnished with expected fair. It only takes a matter of seconds to find items indicative of the Lord of the Day and, as previously, gear and armor symbolized and suited for a Daughter of the Dawn, though it has now been learned thanks to Vittero that the symbol really belongs to Dusk, the enemy of Dawn.

Taylar intends to non-verbally communicate to the Outliers that they should attack the two adults immediately. Once they understand he will manipulate waylines to increase his motility and attempt to get as close to the trainers as he can to attack with his bludgeons.

Taylar moves softly back to the door. He opens it enough to see Adisakti, or whom he thinks is Adisakti as he and Raven Elk can both blend with their environment, who notices the motion. Taylar shows his bludgeon and moves his fingers to indicate, now.

Adisakti wills his camouflaged self to neglect his hand momentarily as he chirps like a wren to hope for the attention of Raven Elk, before signing the same message. He then signals Taylar that he is ready.

Taylar burst from the cabin door, moving at full speed. The confusing image of Adisakti racing from cover toward the two men, at the same time. The men and the girl flinch in momentary startle, but the men recover in the same instant, readying for combat.

As soon as Taylar and Adisakti begin to move, the trainer on the girl's left, who is the thinner man, spins around, moves to his right away from the girl, and launches a balanced knife. The other trainer spins and begins running toward Taylar. He draws a thin pointed sword with his main hand and a smaller matching knife with the other. The man is fast, very fast, but not so mach as the charging Taylar. The man hollers at the girl to shoot him. Raven Elk does not move. He intends to assist at his distance.

The trainer that began to move away launches his knife before anyone else can act. It sticks into Adisakti as he moves forward. Ignoring the injury for that second, Adisakti cuts the man across the abdomen, causing severe injury, in return.

As the two men reach one another, Taylar strikes first, hitting the man in the chest with his right bludgeon, knocking the wind from him, making it harder for him to think, much more breathe. In the course of motion, the man cannot stab Taylar as he had intended.

The man whom Taylar struck realizes his mind was also assaulted. He resists the intrusion, marking Taylar as the Bender, unaware that it is Raven Elk from his hidden location who was responsible.

This was all too quickly a one sided battle, despite the accrued prowess of the trainers. There skill went for naught during a surprise assault that lasted less than five seconds. Taylar brains the man with his second blow while Adisakti slashes his opponent's neck with his second.

The girl draws an arrow to fire, then begins shaking, almost uncontrollably with fear at the sudden demise of her captors. Raven Elk stands, drops his camouflage, lifts his left hand and clams the girl's mind so that she lowers her bow. The girl is barefoot and underdressed for the season in a thin oversized shirt.

Raven Elk knows his thought words can't be read by the young woman, but the emotional sincerity of beneficent intent should.
Thus, before he would speak in his rough, and some say, 'dark-toned' voice, he attempts to calm her mentally and emotionally first.

Adisakti, whose image becomes clear to others after the cessation of the camouflage, pushes the tip of his sword into the throat of the thinner man. He then, calmly and slowly, walks to the other man and does the same thing. He cleans his sword and puts it away. The girls merely watches this, having lowered her bow.

The girl, who has been well conditioned to follow orders, listens to the words of Raven Elk and Taylar. She nods once, without saying a word, and trots to retrieve her arrows. She then goes into the house, quickly to return with more arrows and a swordbelt fastened about her waist containing a small, thin sword and matching dagger. She is still wearing the same simple shirt and bare of foot.

Adisakti shakes his head. "Wait momentarily. You are about to acquire more things to call your own."

He then motions for her and the others to follow him into the cabin. Poking around for a bit, this facility seems to have been rather equally equipped as the other had been across the bay. A female suit of armor is discovered, along with a pair of rather well-made boots. The items are a little bit too large but cinching and buckles will accommodate. Adisakti hands the girl the pants and boots but discards the tunic marked with its identifying symbol. He also hands her the better sword and knife.

Seeing as there should be no need for waste, everyone gathers some food supplies and begins the trek back. It is decided to follow the road rather than to trudge back through the marsh. The girl follows diligently, all the while, never speaking a word. When the three men stop for rest, she too rests and tends to her personal needs, without comment.

The three men and their newly acquired charge return by about the same path as the three men had previously traveled to arrive. Normally prone to ambushing unwary travelers, an encounter with a wandering party of young, adult, Shimadow parts without combat. It is possible that the group assesses the party and realizes the detriment of ambushing it or simply the presence of Adisakti deters them. Either way some simple words are exchanged and the parties each go their separate ways.

Arriving in Refuge, it is actually good to see that not much has changed. It indicates that the village is sufficient unto itself. Even people who do not know the three men wave or say polite greetings. Vittero welcomes the three and greets the young girl. He invites everyone to sit and discuss what has transpired. The girl, who of course has no home of which to return, is content to be partnered with the other rescued girl.

Vittero indicates that he has learned nothing more about the initiation locations for the Daughters of Dawn, but conveys two other bits of information. The elite squad, the members of which are called Seekers of Truth or just Seekers for short, are being trained in their own facility within the city of West Cove under the direct tutelage of the Hand of Justice. He also indicates that this is not a place or a situation that could be readily approached.

On the other hand, word of a new temple embossed with the incorrect symbol for Dawn has been erected in a village that is situated about half way between Outpost and Boga City, along the main road. He knows nothing of when it was constructed or by whom or who is being housed in it, but the spread of such misdirection is of great concern.
