Day 218: Continuing toward Boga City

OM0530.jpg

As the crew continues along the road toward their destination, they watch the surrounding area for any dangers or things of interests. The weather is exactly as would be expected during the Harvesting Season, hot and dry with no breeze.
[sblock=Observation]Raven Elk: 15 + 19(empathy) + 61(d100) = 95
Maka: 17 + 17(empathy) + 96(d100) + 61(luck) = 191
Vittero: 19 + 18(empathy) + 77(d100) = 114
Taylar: 17 + 16(empathy) + 40(d100) = 73
Adisakti: 24 + 10(empathy) + 54(d100) = 88[/sblock]
GM: Raven Elk, Taylar, and Adisakti are a bit preoccupied during the day's travel. Vittero manages to notice and kill a small rabbit, while Maka, in addition to taking a small rabbit, also kills a very large one.

Maka will pick up the Nightstone and begin to study it for proclivities.
GM: During the evening, Maka spends several hours studying the shiny black stone; but to no avail, its particular proclivity still evades him.

Meanwhile, Raven Elk starts asking about trades:
"Hey, my brothers, could I trade my sow's tusks for the rooster tail feathers and this bloodstone for the duck tail feathers? I think you can see where I'm going with this. It's hard to put a stone in a headdress that's been made for birds and bird feathers only."
Vittero, while gesturing with a rabbit bone he is picking clean of its meat, responds.
"Of course, whatever we find should be for the mutual benefit of us all. You should also take the hawk feather. I like the stones. I think I would like to make me something with those."
OOC: The appropriate changes have been made to Raven Elk's character record and party inventory.

Unless of course, the "backdoor" needs to be shut in an encounter

Personally, I believe that the back door should be shut in every encounter.

Taylar adds the flint to his pouch and says, "I'll keep this. You can shut the back door; I'm going to burn it." He erupts in raucous laughter.

During one of their stops along the journey Taylar will hold the flint and attempt to find more.

... During one of their stops along the journey Taylar will hold the flint and attempt to find more.
OOC: Party Xp will be awarded for this helpful idea.

[sblock=Mining]Effectiveness:
  • Konokoro (Divination Task) +
  • Mind + Knowledge +
  • Commercial + d100
This active task is applied to the search for usable metal or stone.
Taylar: 17 + 16(konokoro) + 61(d100) = 94[/sblock]
GM: Despite is assurance of proper technique, Taylar is disappointed to discover no flint during the day's journey. Never being one to be discouraged, he decides that the Kaalatala must have come across the piece elsewhere in their travels.

Adisakti: 24 + 10(empathy) + 84(d100) = 118[/sblock]
GM: This day's journey, Maka and Vittero are preoccupied with their own thoughts, until Raven Elk and Adisakti get their attention at 2 different times toward the presence of rabbits. Taylar is the one most observant this day, pointing to some circling scavenger birds, northward of the road above the grasses, earlier in the day, and a covey of harvester-type birds that something must have spooked, off in the forest south of the road, later in the day.

Day 220: Continuing to Boga City

OM0604.jpg

The crew continues on with the weather being hot and dry, at the end of the day's travel arriving at the stone bridge over the river that crosses the road, north to south.
[sblock=Observation]Raven Elk: 15 + 19(empathy) + 73(d100) = 107
Maka: 17 + 17(empathy) + 63(d100) = 97
Vittero: 19 + 18(empathy) + 95(d100) = 132
Taylar: 17 + 16(empathy) + 92(d100) + 100(luck) + 70(luck) = 295
Adisakti: 24 + 10(empathy) + 55(d100) = 89[/sblock]
GM: Taylar is either extremely lucky or inspired by some greater power. While everyone else notices nothing but common fauna, Taylar notices several things of note. Even this close to the road, a few different trails from animals coming for water are readily evident; and while the crew is watering themselves and their two horses, a patch of muddied water passes flowing down stream, which bothers Taylar for some reason so he points it out to the others.

Taylar says, "I am going to try something." He puts his hand under water and Thumps in the direction of the muddied water.

Raven Elk joins Taylar in his inspection of the tracks. What animals can he easily recognize by the spoor, and (Divining), Raven Elk wants to know how long ago has it been since they were last here at the watering hole.

Day 220: Taylar and the River

Taylar says, "I am going to try something." He puts his hand under water and Thumps in the direction of the muddied water.
GM: When Taylar thumps the water it creates a concussive wave that travels out from his hands toward the muddy patch of water, as the patch continues to drift downstream. Also, it produces a very interesting sound. So interesting that Taylar thumps a second time as Vittero joins him to perform the same task for himself. Sadly, no fish or reptiles surface after the intrusion.

Day 220: Raven Elk and the Tracks

Raven Elk joins Taylar in his inspection of the tracks. What animals can he easily recognize by the spoor, and (Divining), Raven Elk wants to know how long ago has it been since they were last here at the watering hole.
GM: Having yet a few hours until it will be too dark to see, Raven Elk takes his time examining the tracks. He is able to deduce that in addition to a couple of different varmints, one fairly large, some small goats or sheep have also been watering here. The most interesting find is the path made from the regular approach of some large flightless bird, something twice to three times the size of a standard chicken. Unfortunately, his talent for divination is not such that he can determine time tables, but the skill to analyze Way lines does assist in identifying the animals and aids in acquiring food.
