Tweaking Metamagic

Pick one.

or, you have one spell list, and if you have 3 levels of wizard, and 3 of sorcerer, you have lvl3 wizard spell slots and lvl 3 sorcerer spell points, and can use either to cast a given spell from your spell list.

No reason it need to be more complicated than wizard/warlock.

I was tempted to do something similar for a Blood Sorcerer, but as for running the class off of SP, it's kinda impractical with multiclassing and spell slot classes.
It should never be an obstacle that a class is too complicated for multiclassing, because multiclassing is an optional rule. If all else fails (and it doesn't here, but in general), you can always invoke the nuclear option and rule that this particular class cannot multiclass, even if other characters can. Then it'll run just fine alongside the fighter/wizards and the barbarian/rogues.

This. If there are two different systems, don't try to combine them.

I do think it would e thematically appropriate for sorcerers to be able to convert spell slots from MC into spell points, though.

But that doesn't affect how many slots or points you have at the start of a day, either way

I just realised how dumb I'm being. I can psuedp-make the Sorcerer run on Sorcery points by simply removing the conversion loss.

What I would like to see is that metamagic become cheaper by gaining levels for low level spells and more expensive for high levels spells(relative to your level)

I.E. subtle spell would cost 3×spell level-highest level spell being able to cast

so at 3rd level with 2nd level spells it would cost 3×1-2=1pt, at level 5 when you get 3rd level spells it would be 3×1-3=0(for free)
2nd level spell on 3rd level would be 3×2-2=4, at 5th level it would be 3×2-3=3, at 7th 3×2-4=2...at 11th level it would be 3×2-6=0.

costlier metamagic(twinned, quickened, hightened) would have mechanic of 4×spell level - highest level spell.

this would give much flexibility to low level spells when they get overrunned by high levels, but still leaving option to use it on high level spells but with a bigger cost.

maybe double amount of sorcery points.

With respect to SP, we have been playing

11th level Sorcerous Restoration: Regain SP equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum 1) after short rest.

20th level Improved Sorcerous Restoration: Regains SP equal to twice (2X) your Charisma modifier (minimum 2) after a short rest

And to prevent abuse, you can't have more spell slots than you are normally allowed. That way its likely you are regaining some spell slots with rest as well as regaining SP.
