Does a two-handed ranged weapon get the +50% Str mod to damage? I'm thinking of a staff-sling that requires two hands to use.
From the SRD:

Two-Handed: Two hands are required to use a two-handed melee weapon effectively. Apply 1-1/2 times the character’s Strength bonus to damage rolls for melee attacks with such a weapon.

IIRC two-handed weapons can be thrown, it takes a full-round action to do so but you are using one hand to throw them. You still use your x1 Str bonus to damage.

Projectile weapons have each its own rule about Str bonus to damage: slings use normal x1 bonus, bows use a penalty but not a bonus, composite bows use a bonus but only up to a limit, crossbows disregard Str mod completely.

So I guess that if you are designing a brand new projectile weapon, nothing's there to stop you from giving it the feature you want...

Though that would make a pretty cool feat, a two-handed throw which gets the 1.5 Str damage bonus when throwing two-handed weapons. I vaguely recall in "Last of the Mohicans" that the elderly indian had this big two-handed axe that he whipped around quite a bit, and eventually threw at somebody to kill them.

There could probably be some exotic weapons for this, too.
