Can a character use two shields at the same time? If he's not using a weapon and his main goal max defense, could someone use two shields and get the full AC bonus for each?

He would get two shield bonuses, which do not stack with each other.

Not again.

A good house rule is to give those using two shields at once a -4 pentalty to charisma checks, and -20 to intimidate. :p

I can't seem to find a historical reference for any double shield fighters, but I found this PrC at The Giant in the Playground: Shield Master of Fsi-Dib.

Why not simply use tower shield rules?

I will say from boffer fighting experience: If you don't present a credible threat, then you die very quickly since your opponent doesn't have to defend himself while he hits you.

I was wondering why I didn't buy Dreamblade. Now I know: The dreams are those of weird D&D powergamers. I expect the Blind Kobold and the Bucket of Snails next. :p
