Two Weapon Attack Ruling

Wow! This is an awesome community! Thanks to all for responding. I am a solid home brew guy who was trained on 2e. I am rules based with logical house rules employed to add fun, logic, and to enhance the story arc. Huzzah!

I would allow someone to use a dagger in the offhand when using a rapier or a longsword, but I would force you to make the dagger attack before the longsword attack using your bonus action first. Why? because otherwise it is better for a rogue to use rapier dagger than two short swords reducing options.

Those are the only two answers you'll get that matter. I'm not really sure why you're asking us.

O.k., after some deliberation and all of your valuable insight... 1. Character is currently 3rd level: So, I will allow him to continue RAW meaning he can go see if he can aquire light weapons of his liking if he wants to be Drizzt. If he survives to 4th level, then he can chose to trade the improved ability for the dual wielding feat. 2. The breath weapon can be used RAW. (Sound of gavel!) Thank you. Merry Christmas!

If you want to allow that only offhand weapon be light and main hand not. Go ahead.
its 1d8+1d6 at maximum. greatsword is 2d6.

You gain +1 damage on average for giving up bonus action every turn and weaker attacks of oportunity.

And you have to have two weapons. Good luck finding two magic weapons early on.
