(uber PCs) Race/Class Combos & Advantage Rationales

Here's what I posted in the Race/Class poll...thought I'd move it here:

Reading the past seven or so posts made me think of the whole rationale behind the dwarven +2 bonus vs. Spells--the fact that they are "non-magical" creatures, or to put it less bluntly, not prone to wizardry (in 1E). So I guess we need a new rationale for the 3E +2 bonus...something that doesn't tend to rule out the dwarven "spellforgers." Just high CON or racial "toughness" (not the Feat)?

Do we need a new rationale? Should dwarf wizards not get the +2 bonus to save vs. Spells? What other race/class combos bring up this same issue?
