Uncanny dodge = Immunity to feint?

The uncanny dodge ability, granted by barbarians and rogues make certain that you never lose your Dex bonus to AC, even when attacked by invisible creatures.

This would seem that you cannot be sneaked except by flanking; Does this include feinting? It would be just too good, to be immune to the best world's fighter feinting tactics just by being level 2/3 in an appropiate class...

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): At 2nd level, a barbarian retains his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if he is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, he still loses his Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized. If a barbarian already has uncanny dodge from a different class, he automatically gains improved uncanny dodge (see below) instead.

Someone with uncanny dodge retains Dex bonus to AC when,

1) Caught flat-footed
2) Struck by an invisible attacker.

That is all. He loses dex bonus to AC for all the other reasons. Climbing, running, by successful feint, etc. Also, he can be flanked unless he also has Improved Uncanny Dodge (and the attacker is not a high level rogue).

same with crawling in tight spaces. you lose your dex bonus even with uncanny dodge.

thus why they come up with other feats to overcome these things... like tunnel fighting for the close spaces thing...

Thanks, I suppose it's reasonable; yet, the "even if..." statement may lead some people to think it can work in other situations other than those described (flat-footed, struck by invisible creatures). The only case it specifically states when the ability doesn't work is the immobilized state.

I know in one thread a few weeks back the "even if" argument was brought up. It might even be the thread suggested as reading up above. Try reading that for help.

Same with making a Balance check... Although when you are balacing, you are actually considered flat-footed (which is just slightly different terminology than "losing your Dex bonus to AC").

One effect of which, actually, is that Uncanny Dodge does work while balancing.
