That's right, all you riddlers out there...gear up your minds because on Saturday September 18th from 5-7pm PST in the ISRP Lobby, we'll be putting your puzzle-solving knowledge to the test with a plethora of riddles from easy to hard. The rules run as follows:

Contest Rules
  1. Answers will be sent via private message (PM) to BOTH of the two WizOs acting as receivers. The room will -not- be hushed once the contest begins so be careful not to send your answers to the screen or you may be disqualified! One WizO will be acting as scorekeeper, the other will notify the entrant when they have guessed correctly. To send your PM simply type /tell wizo_arcia,wizo_trelian your answer(s)
  2. Answers sent to the room will disqualify that riddle. The first time this happens, the riddle will not count for anyone and we will move on to a different riddle. The second time a person writes their answer to the screen, they will be disqualified, so be very careful when typing your answers!
  3. Answers may be sent all at once, but remember to send them in the order you want. Your first answer will be considered your first guess, your second answer the second guess, and your third answer the third guess. Points will then be tallied as appropriate. For example, if your three guesses were bird, plane, fly, and sent in that order, then you would recieve 5 points if bird was correct, 3 points if plane was correct, and 1 point if fly was correct. If none of them were correct, then of course no points would be recieved.
  4. There will be no talking during the actual contest. Please save chatter for before, after, and during any breaks.
  5. Each entrant will have 60 seconds to answer a riddle.
  6. Each entrant will have 3 guesses during that 60 seconds to answer the riddle correctly.
  7. There will be two sets of 15-20 riddles with a break in-between sets.
  8. In the event of a tie, the tied parties will have a riddle-off with 5 questions.
  9. The person with the highest score at the end of the game is the winner.
  10. At the conclusion of the session, the winning players will be asked to provide their name and mailing address to Arcia, who will forward the information and their prize selection to the Wizards site administrator for processing.
  11. For rules on prize eligibility or questions about prizes e-mail admin@wizo.wizards.com with the heading UnCon Prize Rules
  12. Wizards Online hosts and Wizards of the Coast employees are NOT eligible to play.

Scoring
Points will be assigned as follows:
+5 points for a correct answer on the first try.
+3 points for a correct answer on the second try.
+1 point for a correct answer on the third try.

So, here's a brief run-down of how this will run. I will post the riddle to the screen at which point the timer will be started. You will have 60 seconds to submit your three answers, either all at once (in which case they will be taken in order to determine the points recieved) or one at a time, and we will tell you if you are right or wrong for each answer. Remember to send your answer to both myself and Trelian in PMs! Also remember, the room will be hushed, so any answers sent to the room won't be seen, and therefore won't be counted. You must send your answers via PM.

Any questions? E-mail myself at arcia@wizo.wizards.com or WizO Trelian at trelian@wizo.wizards.com

We hope to see you there!

Quick correction:

The room will be the ISRP Lobby instead of Wizards Presents due to scheduling conflicts. Just keep that in mind when planning on attending :)

The prizes have been set! This year's top two riddlers will recieve one of the following:

-Wizards of the Coast's Brand Spanking New "Monster Manual III" DnD Accessory
-OR-
-Wizards Basic Game Boxed Set, also a new product!

The top riddler gets their choice of one of these two prizes, and second place gets the other, so come on out and riddle your way to the top!

Remember, the Contest is this Saturday from 5-7 in the ISRP Lobby :)

There has been a slight modification to the rules (see rule # 1 and rule #2).

The modification is this. The room will remain unhushed throughout the contest. If someone sends their answer to the screen instead of via PMs, the first time the riddle will be thrown out and no one will recieve points for it. The second time a single player sends their answer(s) to the screen, that player will be disqualified!

This means you should be very careful when sending your answers!

We have a few "practice riddles" at the beginning of the competition to make sure everyone knows how to send their answers.

This change will also be announced before the competition begins.

We look forward to seeing you there tomorrow night at 5PST! Arrive early (Anytime after 4pm PST) if you have questions :)

-Arcia and Trelian
