A poll I want to see is how many UA fans are the ones who used to hate the official optional rules of 2e.

So far nothing impresses me. A PrC for Paladin? Oh yeah, desperately needed. Alternative HP/damage rules imported from Star Wars? Yes, another desperately needed alternative flavor.

Nothing but trashy and useless fluff so far. There is still hope that there might actually be useful AND ORIGINAL ideas in the book. Maybe even enough to persuade me to buy it. Right now it looks like a total waste of money. Just like the optional books of 2e.

HOwever, it might be like the 1e UA, where there is enough to make it worth getting. So I am a wait and see.

Yes, but not just any set of house rules. Unearthed Arcana is going to be a set of house rules designed and blessed by the game-designer gods of WotC. So, it will not only reach a much wider audience, but it will be much more accepted as well.

That perhaps is one of the reasons I'm somewhat dreading UA. It has the strong potential of coming off as the Player's Options books in 2e. Being much more accepted means that others have to deal with it being more likly assumed that said rules will be accepted :(.

I was originally intending to, but the info that's been provided here so far (in the UA discussion thread) has really got me excited about this book.
ditto. And Heretic's Apostate's friendly share the love offer :)

I just hope someone from my list buys it (within the week). So maybe (if Amazon doesn't screw up again), I can get the 10% off credit, as well.

Still trying to find out if anyone bought any of the following: Of Sound Mind, Heroes of High Favor (Dwarves), Heroes of High Favor (Elves), Testament, Encyclopedia Arcane (Tomes & Libraries), Firefly the Complete Series, d20 Menace Manual, or Mindshadows. As usual, Amazon hasn't given me any credit for it, so I'm trying to find out if I have any money coming...

With the Unearthed Arcana, I sent out a STL for Into the Green, which is some sort of ecology thing for forests, jungles, woods, and plains...

What's the deadline date, HA? I will get it, don't worry.

I'm probably not going to buy this one, although I do pick up most of the WotC books. UA just doesn't seem that exciting to me, since I'm already fairly comfortable with most of the D&D rules, and willing to House Rule out the ones I don't like. If, however, I find myself in position where most of the games I'm involved in are using UA, I'll have to rethink things.

I'll probably be getting it.

However, the previews haven't entirely enthused me.

I don't know...I suppose I was expecting a bit more out of the Prestige Class Paladin, for example. I don't know that I should have, but, hey. So it goes. I just prefer anything I put my money down for to be something I couldn't have created on my lonesome, with all of a minute of thought and however long it took for me to type that all out.

My interest is still piqued, though. There are a few d20 mechanics that I think could do with some cleaning up, or that, while servicable, could be a bit better, and depending on just what's in there, I'll likely nab it.

If it's just more stuff like the Prestige Class Paladin, where no more thought went into it than "Let's just make it a Prestige Class," and only gave it the slightest of tweaks to make it fit that bill, well...I'll pass.

John, I sent the discount Sunday, so I'd recommend buying before the 15th.

Have you bought anything from the last three STLs I have sent out? Because Amazon is claiming no-one bought any of the items I sent the discounts on from those three orders.

I mean, c'mon! At least one person must have bought Firefly! :)

I'm starting to just not want to bother with the whole STL thing. I mean, what's the point? I don't get any benefit, since I have to fight for every STL credit I get... :(
