I'm planning on buying it if for no other reason expanded or alternate options. It's the same reason I got Monte Cooks Arcana Unearthed (that and it was $10 at a used book store if you can believe it).

I'm just leary of the price. Even pre ordering it off Amazon . . .

I'll probably be getting it.

However, the previews haven't entirely enthused me.
That's the boat I'm in, too. I have this feeling that the stuff I was anxious for (alternate magic, armor bonus by class, Paladin PrC) won't get used, but some of the other stuff will (WP/VP, recharging slots) will.

Specifically, I'm not happy with preparing the Wizard's "spells known" list, I want AC by class to look like WoT, and no PrC should be 15 levels -- it might as well be a core class, then.

I'm definitely getting it (I have it on order). From what I've read, I'll probably wind up using a lot of stuff, especially the things that give my players more options (for example, some of the variant races and classes, monk fighting styles, traits and flaws) but not the systems that change the core mechanics of the game (for example, WP/VP, injury system, spell points). All in all, though, it looks like it's going to be very much worth the price.

No - not something I need.

A poll I want to see is how many UA fans are the ones who used to hate the official optional rules of 2e.
Heh... that's exactly what ran through my mind...

Yes, definitely. And for the record, I loved 2e Skills and Powers, in all its "broken" glory.

Before today's detailed explanation of what was in it, I was on the fence. now, it is a definite.

BTW, I think the greatest strength of the book is that it opens up a whole range of "official" options for d20 publishers. Does anyone know if there is going to be an Unearthed Arcana SRD update?

Not sure yet. I'd have to thumb through the whole thing first - is this stuff (the OGC content) going into the SRD? Even if not, you'd think someone could *technically* OCR it, cut out the naughty WotC-only bits and post it on the intarweb. Hm?

I have just managed to convince my group to adopt 3.5. There is no way they will be open to purchasing another book to change the rules yet again, but I might be a sucker and buy the book anyway if I hear enough that makes me think it might be good.
