Unstoppable Undead

Dandu you never leave me indifferent. I either strongly argee with you or wholly disagree.... and sometimes even both at the same time but your post always get a reaction.

So what's your solution to the fact that they are currently sucking?

Are they sucking?? They seemed to clean out that cult that created these undead pretty well killing The Chosen One and the Avatar of their God and if they converted from 2nd ed. to 3.5 i'm guessing this is a pretty long running campaign.

They are struggling with a problem the DM placed in front of them. Isn't that the whole point of the game?? From the (assumed) length of this campaign i doubt the DM has painted them into a corner. We are hearing the story from one of his players, who knows his plans for this??

As far as my solution, a lot of great solutions have already been posted that don't involve over half the party scraping there character sheets and starting over.

They could dig deeper, there may be a plot hook involved here that will lead them to a solution. Knowledge checks and Gather Information could help.

If there is not a plot driven solution to the problem, but i suspect there is, then the portable hole idea is still an option.

What about destroying the goggles so that the Undead no longer see everyone as their killers??

Yes...but did you catch that bit about Heat Metal and Call Lightning (Post #65)? If the portable hole thing worked, I'm sure they'd be able to destroy portable holes with a special power he didn't mention they had...

This is not reading like a challenge, this is reading like a problem DM.

Well they have a cleric and a ranger... and i don't know maybe they could role play and go to a temple and try to find someone who knows more than them. I assume there are other people in this game world besides the PCs. Should i assume that none of the fighters have magic weapons since they can't craft them themselves??

Most likely response based on my knowledge of the DM:

"This new wave of powerful undead mystifies us! We have never encountered anything like it before!"

There has to be a why. Why did the DM create these indestructible undead??

Again, as long as it seems like this campaign has been running i doubt he would create an unbeatable foe without a reason. Unless he is just beating up his players to show how powerful he is in the DMs seat there has to be a reason.
