UPDATE on alignment warped campaign setting!

I bet there are some hungry illithids, then...if they're good, then they're probably protecting the races that would have been livestock for "normal" illithids. Where do they find brains to eat?

well if alignments were reversed. and everyone acts reverse. Why not have positive energy creates undead and deemed a good thing, like ancestors returning to guide the living?

nothing wrong with that. would definitely throw off the detect evil. The undead aren't evil?????? but the flesh is falling off and such.

No reason you have to change the alignment of magic, just make the Moon an evil thing, and the darkness of caves the "peaceful, moonless" regular Weave (owned by Shar the Guardian). Evil critters draw power in moonlight, when the Shadow-Weave is waxing. Good is hiding from the planet's surface, since those evil sun and moon gods keep rising.

- Great Pyramids of Lathander: As an evil Sun god, Lathander requires daily human sacrifice. Use any Aztec images you can.

- Illmater is still the god of Suffering. ;) "Do unto others, lest they do unto you first!" His legions always try to strike to subdue, so they can torture you more later. "Make no quick cut that you might savor slowly."

- Bane is short for "Tyrant's Bane": he's a CG god of freedom. The Fey like him, unless you reverse the Fey, too -- but I don't know how good a Nymph would look in a goatee.

- Lolth is the LG Weaver-God, patron of all creative endevors involving cloth. (Her name is a variant on "Cloth".) Her symbol is still a spider. The Sun-Scarred elves, those hated by the evil Sun god and burned to blackness for their valor in fighting his flaming minions, worship Lolth from their caves of peace.

- Malar is the righteous fist of Nature, striking back at the depredations of the dominant evil gods. He has paladins.

- CG Beholders all have goatees. It's just too amusing to avoid. They were created by the evil Moon goddess in her evil image, but quickly rebelled -- they were granted too much intelligence to remain evil. Their numbers are small, but they will aid the cause of Good however they can.

- Unicorns are called "Pikes of the Tyrant". These LE beasts serve as the shock-cavalry of LE Elven gods. Only those blessed by Shar, the NG Black Unicorns, are equipt to fight the Tyrant-Pikes... who can only be ridden by slatterns!

- Tempus is the LN god of regimented battle. Helm is the CN god of barbarians. Torm (short for "Tormentor") is the CE patron of Blackguards.

- LE Bamf Dogs (they make a "bamf!" noise, and leave a cloud of sulphur & brimstone when they Dimension Door) battle NG Displacer Beasts on the open plains.

- LG Talos the Life-Giver, the Rain-Bringer, both feeds plants and shields the righteous from the gaze of the evil sun and moon.

- LG Auril brings life to the icy wastelands.

- NG Mask, the Bright Shadow, is the patron of those who fight evil governments using stealth.

Good luck, enjoy, and keep us posted! -- N

"Brains?! How barbaric! Heavens no, my good fellow. We gain life from the life-energy of the thoughts of those around us. Only a savage would actually eat a brain... and even then, he's eating poison, for how joyous and healthful are the thoughts of one dying so horrid a death? No, my good man, you must not beleive the lies of Lathander... we certainly draw nourishment from the brains of those around us, but would never stoop to eat brains. Yuck!"

This also gives you a reason to have them intereact with good people -- happy humans -> good-tasting psychic resonance -> tasty food supply.

Hah! Okay, I think you've convinced me. I'll switcheroo the gods as well. "Bane of Tyrants"... I like that.

And great idea why undead aren't evil!

Here's a question... any thought's to what "monsters" they might need to fight? The MM doesn't have too many great "good" monsters for 3rd level characters.

Personally, I'd leave Undead as evil, since that's a game mechanic as much as a setting flavor thing. But I'd require all Undead-creation rituals to take place in moonlight, and to use moonstone instead of obsidian.

Monsters for 3rd level PCs:
- Evil Unicorn (CR 3 critter by the books)
- Centaur (CR 3)
- Neutral critters (animals, plants, magical beasts) -- not EVERY encounter has to be bizzaro

Don't forget humans.

Alll sots of level 3 bunch that walk around looking for good to smite, rob, pillage, etc.

FR from what I remember has a lot of fantastic creatures, BUT is mainly still about the human populace. A few well placed encounters of Fireknives fighting for their lives from the Twisted Harpers could be a good encounter.

Purple Dragon initiates trying to gain reputation and rank within the organization by hunting down and bringing back heads of do-gooders could be another.

Fleeing orcs beseech the PCs to help them as BlackGuards of Helm arrive at the scene.

I really dig that image!

I've got a small snag in the whole good gods are now evil gods plan. The cleric and the paladin in the party are not going to get their spells/abilities if their dieties are not evil, will they?

Now I think maybe I'll leave the gods alone...
