Urban Encounters?

Thanks, Joe! You've saved me from making another shameless plug.

Ha! I enjoyed Urban Blight and find that it's a little like the City Books with a vile twist. I'd like to see more 'normal', typical, fantasy settings like blacksmith, weaponschool, etc.., but this was a good start.

I really like the Citybook series. I have no idea how to find them except at nice game stores, and they're kind of dated, back when in-city adventuring was a novel idea, but they're really cute and jammed full of city encounters and mini-adventures.

im actually looking for Urban Blight but cant find it!!!

Should be in stores in like a week or so, AB. I'm sure Joe got an advance copy as a reviewer and I got mine as a contributor. Not to worry, should be soon!

Heck, I'm still waiting for OgreCave to post my review of Blight Magic. It's out along with Librum Equitis. Both pretty sweet books but I prefer the latter to the former. Urban Blight looks like it's going to be a very interesting series.

Did anyone mention the old Sites sourcebooks from TSR? City Sites, Country Sites and Castle Sites I think? Great encounters there too.

I've always wanted to use an Urban Druid in my campaign as an NPC or Villain.

Think about it:

The average sparrow has, what, 1/2d8 hit dice, right?

That means a 4th level druid could have 8 sparrow animal companions. 8 sparrows can easily spy on pesky PC's, be an early warning system of intruders, swarm spellcasters, or do what birds do best: poop on enemy targets.

Also, the druid could befriend tomcats and stray dogs, and even the feral hobo or two.

Isn´t this exactly the sort of article you´d find in Dragon Magazine, and think "oh, cool", then when you need it, you forgot all about it.

Anyways, you´re free to use this list:

1D100
01 - 02 The characters becomes witnesses to the city guard arresting a merchant. His shop is now left unguarded and unlocked. After 3D6 rounds a wild plundering of the shop begins.

05-06 The characters becomes witnesses to a beating. 1D6 thugs are beating a lying man with clubs.

07-08 The characters becomes witnesses to a wild fight between two gangs of 1D6 + 2 rough men.

09-10 The characters becomes witnesses to how a sailor is molesting a beautiful woman. She´s screaming for help.

11-12 A weapons smith is offering his goods (daggers, swords and axes) to 75 % of the regular price. The goods are in slightly tarnished condition.

13-14 A bakerer is offering very old and dry bread to a very cheap price indeed!

15-16 From the closest inn to where the characters are currently, they are proclaiming that the third mug of ale will be for free tonight.

17-18 A man mistakes one of the characters for someone else. He demands that he gives him 2 silver pieces for a pair of boots he´s made him.

19-20 A man mistakes one of the characters for someone else. As soon as he sees the character he´s terrified and starts running the opposite direction.

22 A beautiful woman starts flirting with one of the characters in the street. She´s married with a very tough and jealous sailor. She´s quite obtrusive and has 3D6 in charisma.

23 A beautiful woman starts flirting with one of the characters in the street. She´s a prostitute and quite obtrusive. She has 2D6 + 4 in charisma. If the character is intimate with her he, must roll 1D6. On 1 - 2 he has caught a venerical disease, 3 - 6 he´s lucky.

25 - 26 The characters are passing by a house at the same time as the garbage is being thrown out - on the street of course. All characters must make a Spot check (DC 12) to see the danger and then a Tumble check (DC 8) to avoid it. The refuse smells badly and the characters who gets it over them must take a bath and change clothes. Until they´ve done this they´ll have a penalty of -2 on all social situations. (such as Diplomacy etc.)

27 - 28 The characters is passing a crossroad as the same time as a rider speeds by from one side. All characters must make a Spot check (DC 12) to see the danger and then a Tumble check (DC 8) to avoid it. If a character is trampled roll 1D8 for damage.

I might post more if anybody actually reads this? :-)
