Using the Warmain as the basis for a Knight core class

The Warmain is basically the AU blend of Barbarian and Fighter into one class and giving it the Educated Military mind as well rather than the basic D&D dumb brute mentality.

That's an interesting observation . . . except for the HD12 I've never noticed any similarity between the Barbarian and the Warmain.

Nope. When I posted that I was lookig at the book. Warmains get Good Fortitude only, same as fighters.

You need to look closer ;)
The Warmain has good Fort, Bad Reflex and Med Will (that's +9 at 20th).

So the Warmain has better saves than a Fighter

:)

My bad - I will check the book again when I get home. I tend to only look at the 1st level row to check saves, but I forgot that Monte broke the Good/Poor standard of saves and added a New Category.

As for the Warmain being similar to Fighter/Barbarian its ust my impression of them, its more a style thing than mech. Rather than DR they get big armor specialization bonuses. Instead of Rage they get big weapon specialization bonuses. They get d12 HP and Sturdy. Just much more a heavy "tank" akin to an Everquest Warrior than standard D&D Fighter.

You should have seen us in playtesting, where the Medium save wasn't standardized! There were three different progressions. :)
