Vampire d20 And The Flying Pigs Outside My Window

I think it will happen.

After all, there was already a licensed Gurps version of Vampire that White Wolf went along with in the early 1990s. (Gurps Mage and Gurps Werewolf too, actually). The d20 version would be much easier than that, because:

1) They could actually control the production value at White Wolf, and not rely on anyone else. This is the one crucial factor about Vampire d20.

2) They already have a great team in place (The Wieck brothers who run the company are the ones credited with a lot of the recent Sword and Sorcery books and the Everquest RPG, so they obviously understand how to design for d20).

3) The goth thing is on it's way out, and the game will need a fresh audience of gamers.

4) Sword and Sorcery seems to be doing darn well.

5) Despite what anyone says, Vampire is already a class and level-ish system. They call classes "clans" and levels are pretty fuzzy but you can basicly take someones dots in disciplines and generation and figure it out whether one vampire is "higher level" than another. The d20 system will just make it a lot easier. Thats probably controversial, but there it is.

6) d20 Call of Cthulhu will pave the way for a new horror roleplaying wave.

Seeing WoD in d20 would be interesting. I think it can actually work very well. However, I always liked the white wolf system, it was their worlds that I could never get into. :D

If they're going to do it, I'd prefer a d20 WoD. I've been interested in most of the WoD settings, but for casual play, there's no way I'm going to get a whole line of books for each corner of the world.

d20 WoD might happen.. . then source books for Vampire, Werewolf, Mage etc... I can see the $'s rolling before my eyes.... $_$

I never understand it when people get upset that a game might be converted to another system. Why wouldn't you want more people to play a game and become enthusiastic about gaming in general? Anything that can potentially bring in new players is a good thing!

Just because you don't like the idea doesn't mean it isn't a valid game to be translated. If you don't like it don't buy it. There are plenty of games out there that I don't play but that doesn't mean they shouldn't exist.

I'm curious if this will come to light before the end of the year. Between the EveryQuest RPG and this possible publication White Wolf could have a banner year.

That's even more true in Werewolf.
Tribe=Race
Auspice=Class
Rank=Level
How much more simple can it be? ;)
