I'm playing a warlock in a Shackled City campaign, and eventually I plan on taking Eldritch Cone in order to be more effective as an attacker. Since I already have Fell Flight, I thought it would be cool to fly over a group of enemies and blast down on them with a cone of eldritch energy.
But then I started trying to figure out the mechanics of this manuever and couldn't find any specific rules on it. Has anybody seen or done anything with this type of situation? I can't believe it's unique. Flying wizards and cones of cold, flying dragons breathing, at some point someone must have thought about this. If anyone could point me in the direction of some rulings on this I'd appreciate it. Personally I think that examining the 30-foot cone templates shows that a 30-foot cone blasted straight down from a height of 20 feet would affect a 40-foot diameter circular area to a height of 5 feet, and a 30-foot diameter area to a height of 10 feet, with decreasing area as height increases.
