Virtual Feats for Rogues?

I was thinking about the Ranger class (a variant of the Monte Ranger, but I won't bore you with details), and I was wondering why the virtual feats of ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting didn't go to the rogue.

After all, manual dexterity is important to a thief-style rogue, who should be able to pick pockets with either hand (especially if one has been cut off!). Working with locks and traps and climbing equipment would also be easier if they were ambidexterous (in character- there is no game effect.) So it makes sense that they would acquire ambidexterity.

Rogues don't gain proficiency in shields, so it's not like they have something useful to do with the other hand; it might as well hold a light weapon. And rogues wouldn't want to wear heavy armor anyway, so the virtuality of the feat is ok.

If you are sneak attacking, it's good to be able to make as many attacks as possible during your turn, which is just what two-weapon fighting allows you to do.

Min-maxing fighters are less likely to take a level of rogue just for the virtual feats, as they lose in hit points and BAB.

Monte's Ranger doesn't get these virtual feats, so there is no overlap.

So is this a great idea, or what?

THe only way to do is to not give them to the rogue at first level. Infact they should be given at like 2nd, and 4th. And then you have to get rid of something of significance like a few dice of sneak attack, evasion, or uncanny dodge.

However, I don't think it would be a good idea.

For those who didn't get it:

You asked a simple either/or question.

So is this a great idea, or what?

Choice A: It's a great idea

Choice B: What

Since I didn't think it was a great idea, i chose what (choice B). no offense. ok idea, but you need to rework. want a rogue to focus on fighting with two weapons? pick up two levels of fighter.

I'm not sure what exactly I was thinking of last night. I must have had some reason for thinking that doubling the combat effectiveness of rogues was a good idea. Must have been one of those "Aha!" moments that you can't quite recall later on.

Thanks everyone, for being a reality check. :D
