D&D (2024) Rogues plus Nick and Vex

Charlaquin

Goblin Queen (She/Her/Hers)
Yeah, I was also tempted to variate the name for my next character who is a glamour bard based on Alice Cooper's role in Dynamite Comics' CHAOS! Universe as the Lord of Nightmares. Main focus of illusions and fear.

Except without nick or vex in the build the variations were hard to come up with for me. I was thinking maybe Mikki Hexx but I'm definitely looking for suggestions. :-D

Thank you for showing why these should be options inherent to the character instead of aspect of the weapons.

I’d probably house rule it that non-fighters were limited to the properties of the weapons they were proficient in, but able to use any mastery with any weapon.
I think I will rule that masteries are learned by the character as "mini maneuvers".

you learn Nick and Vex masteries.

You can apply Nick to offhand attack with any light weapon your ARE proficient.
You can apply Ven to any finesse and ranged weapon your ARE proficient.

you can apply only one mastery per weapon attack even if weapon would qualify for more than one.

Then as Nikki Vex you can apply Vex to your mainhand if you hit and Nick to your light offhand to save Bonus action, but if you do not need to save your Bonus action, you can apply Vex to your offhand(if it's also a finesse weapon) and keep the advantage train going.

give high level fighter ability to apply 2 masteries per attack.

I think Nikki Vexx the rockstar works best as a Rogue (probably Arcane Trickster) with expertise in Performance.

Maybe. But it doesn't work for my nightmare bard theme. Alice Cooper's character in comics inspired through terror as he expressed that it's okay to feel terror as one works through it.

His main ability was to warp the perception of others and matching that to what they feared, but also other things like possessing others or resonating demon back to hell. The magical level was well beyond an arcane trickster.

The way he's presented is very glam star.

The new illusionist might work though. Alice also commanded monsters and I think the new illusionist ability matches that better than a spell.

I like the style @Charlaquin gave with the name suggestion Aldridge B. Hexx. It seems like an aristocratic ring to it that aligns with the concept.

A similar inspiration would be Alastor, The Radio Demon from Hazbin Hotel.
