Wouldn't it be better to make them go directly from 5th to 8th level though? ...Let's just skip those useless spell levels... (9th lvl spells at 13th level... more balanced i think...)

not all campaigns are that rich...

That logic always struck me as odd. The fact that from campaign to campaign something as subjective as "desired level of wealth" could correlate into the ability to manifest the power your character properly obtained. It seems like bad design to me that some classes' power is tied to game-play decisions like wealth while other classes' are not.

Excuse me, but are you out of your mind? 9th levels spells at 13th level? Putting straight wizards aside, this would make gish builds, among other, completely dominate every single encounter.

I was making a joke about you saying that 7th and 8th level spells should be eliminated.

Well... personally i see it as a great opportunity (as a DM) to cut down on the power of spell casters...

Here's an interesting semi-serious question. 5th level spells are among the voting leaders. 6th level spells have no votes.

As a caster, would you trade your 6th level spell slot for an additional 5th level spell slot? Are 5th level spells that good and 6th level that bad?
