VTT / play by chat gameday?

The problem with all those programs you listed, Jeysie, is that they all require that additional components be installed (Java, DirectX, Python, etc.), and sometimes they even demand specific versions, or that they be installed in a specific order. This can sometimes lead to problems if some of the people in your gaming group aren't very computer savvy.

Have you tried Battlegrounds? It's all self-contained, so there's nothing else to install.
Would you like to run a one shot on it for a virtual gameday? ;)

I will definitely be running a few demos during iCon. I'm not sure yet about whether I'll be running actual games, but I know some users are planning to. GURPS and Deadlands are the two I've heard about so far, but their games aren't yet posted on the iCon game schedule.

I hadn't heard of it before now... I'll have to look into it. Thankee.

Edit: Eh, sorry, but we're not interested in a pay client. We already do fine with just IRC, so a VTT would be a novelty only and thus not worth the money. Especially since only two of us have jobs right now (one's a student, and two of us are currently unemployed and stuck looking).

But, I was mostly just saying it'd be cool to also have an online gameday that focuses just on the actual gaming/systems the way the offline ones seem to, instead of having to mess around with software.

I'd love to try GURPS and White Wolf and other systems my group doesn't play, but I really don't have the means to go outside my small home circle offline, even for a day or two. (No vehicle, no offline friends who game.) And I'm not sure I want to fully commit to another online group right now.
