W2: The Search For Tomas Quinn (Rae Judging)

The goblin stops and thinks for a moment. "No. We didn't see any children. Just knew that the pinkskins with the scarfs had lost the pearl, almost right after they got it. You're not looking for the pearl?"

"Y'all stay here, let me handle 'em," Solange says to the others once they warn her of the approaching guards. "I'll be back in a bit."

Solange walks out of the alley, looking a bit lost, and then spots the guards, and breaths a big sigh of relief. "'scuse me, y'all think ya kin help a girl in distress? I'm lookin' fer that stearin' wheel, or ships wheel, or somethin' like that. A bar a friend a mine told me 'bout. I'm kinda new 'round these parts, and it don't seem so safe 'round here. Ya think ya boys kin do a gal a favor 'n show me where ta go? I'm just all turned around and I'd be mighty grateful..."

She smiles and bats her eyelashes at the guards, blushing a bit through her freckles.

At the mention of approaching guards Cepheus will pick up the Blacklilly scarf and silver dagger and put them out of plain sight in his pack. Not trying to claim these for myself but want to secure them in case we need them to follow a lead to the boy. Turning back to the goblin... in goblin:We do not seek the pearl, but it seems the path to the boy we seek may be connected to the pearl you seek. And I take it as a compliment that I do not speak your language fluently.

The guards approach Solange. The eldest eyes Solange warily for a moment, but doesn't seem particularly interested. One of the younger men steps forward.

"Ships Wheel? That old place? Last I heard, it was still being re-worked, since a huge fight broke out there a few weeks ago. Why're interested in that place?" He seems genuinely interested, although his gangly face that squints against the wind doesn't convey the emotion well.

"Well, if you're looking for it, just head down that road, walk for a good ways until you smell the sea, and then take a turn to your left on... what's the street? Pike?"

***

The goblin, well aware of the guards, whispers quietly "You will all speak goblin one day, gnome. Our prophecies foretell it. But that's another matter.

It seems we are not enemies- had you not killed many of my comrades, although if you let me go, I can convince my tribesmen that it was the other pinkskins with the neckties that did it.

Find your whelps soon, gnome. This city is going to get violent, soon."

"Oh? Someone told me 'bout it a week ago, said somethin' 'bout havin' fun there. Told me ta come alone, but that ain't seemin' quite right now. I ain't been here that long, 'n I'm just a simple country gal 'n all. All these streets 'n people are confusin' ya know? Tell ya'll what. If'n y'all don't mind helpin' a gal out, ya think ya kin walk me ta the temple o' Zephos? I'd be awfully thankful. Maybe y'all kin tell me 'bout proper places for a gal ta go 'round here." As she says the last part, she shifts her weight a bit, causing her coin purse to jingle from under her robes.

[sblock=DM]If they try to sense motive, she's willing to pay to be escorted by the four of them :)[/sblock]

OOC: Think I'm getting the hang of this accent. :)

Aiken remembers all the kid's toys the goblins had on their person. "You don't know anything about children you say but you are carrying some strange stuff around for goblins." he holds a toy up in his hand.

Pendrake, trying to keep a handle on things, listens to the group in the street, turns around to try and warn the others in the alley to please be silent...with his hands only. Thats right, a sense motive to understand him may be in order!

The guards nod at Solange. the youngest one instantly realizes what Solange is suggesting, and seems ready to accept the payment... until he catches the eye of the elder man with the staff.

"Um. Temple? Yes, yes. We're heading near there, ourselves. If'n you please, ma'am?" he says, offering his arm.

The group adopts a formation around Solange, and begins to ask her a multitude questions:

"So, how long have you been in our fair city?"
"What were you doing in this neck of the woods? Hardly seems safe."
"You have friends who frequent the Ship's Wheel? What is it that you do?"

And basic questions such as that.

The goblin shifts for a moment. "Our boys like to collect things. Toys for our whelps. Strings and things. You know? Got lots of gems and whatnots. Nothing about any kids."

Solange answers the questions as she goes.

"Maybe two weeks."

"Seemed nice enough at first, 'n I got some nice earin's, but then it got a bit worse as I went."

"Oh, I guess not a friend really, more of a guy I ran inta a few times. Said gal's like me kin have some fun there, so I'd figured I'd check. Maybe wasn't a good idea ta trust 'im."
Solange says, regretfully.

As the get close to the temple, "Oh, I rekon I almost forgot. You ain't seen a little boy round where I was did ya?" Solange will describe the boy. "Friend o mine, Marissa, sent 'im off to the ave ta pick up some fruit, and 'e didn't come right back. I bet he's off playin' with a friend, 'r maybe got back while I was out. I was lookin' fer him to till I got all turned around. I'm sure it's nothin'. Ya know 'ow boys be."

The guards seem amiable enough, until Marissa's name comes up.

"This boy.... name wouldn't be Tomas, would it?" the guard asks, exchanging glances with his friends.

"I don't know how close you are to Miss Quinn, but her boy... well, ma'am, I don't know quite how to say this, but her boy is heading towards trouble."

The older man, so far silent through the whole exchange, tsks softly. "It's not that he's a bad boy... he just likes attention."

"If you say so... we 've had our troubles with him, though."

Seeing Solange's face, the youngest of the group blurts out "he leads a bunch of urchins and beggar children. Runs a gang of ten-year old pickpockets, he does. If you're looking for him, try looking in the pockets of the wealthy. I'm sure you'll find him... or his fingers, at least."
