SURPRISE ROUND:

Cepheus and Aiken run back, coming into range just as Solange begins to cast her spell. They find theirselves in the room, the torchlight flickering as it is transferred into Hukk's hand. The whole room is filled with flickering shadows, as the howling sounds of approaching marauders grows louder.

The three goblins from the east room soon break into the main room, and three more goblins burst in from the north. Each goblin catches the torchlight only barely, and what you see is not promising: black, spiked armour and ragged scarves on their heads, bone and steel piercings catching shining in the half light. Their feral eyes seem to glow with violent energy.

From the south, there is a loud howling that reverberates off the stone walls, and causes Hukk to nearly drop the torch.

ROUND ONE:

Pendrake moves to the north as the goblins burst in, but his swing fails to connect with the wiry attackers, who flood past him.

Solange finishes casting her bless spell, while moving near Hukk.

The goblins to the north surround Pendrake quickly, and begin to make quick slashing attacks. However, the tall northman is easily able to parry their blows, and his blade is enough to force them to keep their distance.

The goblins from the east make their way into the room, with the first one to pass through being skewered by an attack from Aiken (both Cepheus and Aiken are in good flanking positions on the eastern passageway). One goblin takes a swing at Aiken with his short sword, and while the attack hits, it just barely connects (1 point of damage). The other goblin, screaming loudly at Cepheus, makes feeble stabs that the gnome easily avoids.

Aiken attacks, and misses the goblin on him. As for Cepheus... (waiting for action, will update when I get an attack roll)

END OF ROUND ONE

INITIATIVE ORDER:

Pendrake: 23
Solange: 14
Goblins: 13
Cepheus: 10
Aiken: 5

[sblock=ooc]Sorry for making rolls not on IC right now. I don't have much time to update right now, since I have an opening shift tomorrow, and a bunch of other factors. Rolling was easier. Apologies also for attacks of opportunity.

Also, my updating schedule is going to change a bit, at least for the next few weeks. I start school on tuesday, and it might be a bit to get used to. I'll be opening mondays and wednesdays, and then going to school right afterwards, for starters. Basically, don't expect updates on mondays or wednesdays, and probably not on thursdays either. Weekends are most likely going to be where I'll do the bulk of my updates.[/sblock]

hp 9/10

Aiken grimaces and takes the damage like a man.
He moves to get the goblin attacking him in flanking position with Cepheus if not already in position. If necessary he'll Tumble (1d20+6=11) to get into flanking position.
Attack (1d20+6=17) (this is with flank) Aiken punches through the armour of the goblin Damage and sneak damage (1d6+1=5, 1d6=3).

OOC: of the 3 goblins on Aiken en Cepheus' group 1 died? so that leaves 5 goblins? just to keep track of them.

OOC: Thanks, Corwyn. And, yeah, there's two to the east, and three to the north, surrounding poor Pendrake.

OOC: HA! they can't get away! I have them completely surrounded!!!

IC: Not much time for fancy fluff, Pendrake will simply scewer any of the goblins foolish enough to get in his way!

long Sword +5 1d8+3 19-20x2 (1d20+5=23, 1d8+3=11)

The rushing goblins that seem almost to swarm around the tall northerner try to use a confusing tactic, only to confuse themselves. one runs directly onto Pentrakes sword!

OOC: wow! invisble castle was nice to me for once

HP:12/12

Round two

(OOC: Sorry for the delay - first week of school is always hectic!)

Pendrake is able to cut down one of the goblins, who shrieks loudly for a moment, until the northerner is able to kick the goblin off his blade and parry off the blows of the two remaining fiends.

Solange aims at one of the remaining goblins on Pendrake, but cannot see very well in the dim light. She fires as one steps into the torchlight, but is aiming away from Pendrake, and aims too far away. The bolt is swallowed up by the darkness.

After she looses it, she hears another howl coming from the hallway to the south. And this time, it's much louder. She also smells the stench of rotting meat, and almost gags on it.

The two remaining goblins on Pendrake quickly surround him, swiping ineffectively with their vicious short swords. The first attack misses, but the second gets pasts Pendrake's defences and slices hisknee. The attack came dangerously close to severing an artery, but Pendrake was lucky. In any case, he still takes 5 points of damage.

A goblin attacking Cepheus snarls "You'll taste good in my stewpot, GNOME!" before stabbing, but fails miserably

The other goblin, on Aiken, does just as poorly

Cepheus, while flanking the goblin and having great darkvision, still cannot find an opening in the goblin's defences. Aiken, however, does much better, catching an opening when the goblin finds himself looking over his shoulder at Ceph's attacks. He is sliced in the back of his throat, and pitches forward, while the gnome is able to make a few quick stabs to finish him off.

The howls proceed, and coming from the south are two large dogs, eaceh the size of a hound or wolf. They are missing large patches of fur, and a viscous ooze drips from their lips, glowing red from the firelight. The hounds have massive eyes for dogs, and their canines almost seem to have been sharpened. Their snouts are pulled back in a feral snarl, and they look at Solange with fury in their eyes.

A rallying cry from the north and south hallways also sounds, seemingly in response to the exhortations of a leader's voice.

It seems as if more goblins are on their way.

END OF ROUND TWO

Pendrake: 23
Solange: 14
Dogs: 13
Goblins: 13
Cepheus: 10
Aiken: 5
