OOC: Initiative (1d20+1=3)

The attack catches Guardian completely by surprise. This is completely against the rules of battle! He thinks, Clearly, these brigands need to learn what it truly means to fight.

"Take cover!" he shouts to Haltash and Tondrek. He takes in as much of the scene as he can while readying his shield and drawing his blade. He looks to the defense of his companions first, and the destruction of the enemies second.

OOC: If Guardian can move to provide cover for one of his companions, he will do so. If it seems readily apparent that the crossbowmen have a good firing angle despite his intervention, Guardian will instead try and get himself into a good attack position.

Are the attackers standing on the deck of a skycab floating outside the broken window?

OOC: Yeah. The skycab is floating perhaps five or six feet away from the window. There are three crossbowmen firing from behind half cover, and a human spellcaster at the helm, using one hand to steady the device.

There is also the sound of a battle beginning in the hallway outside Graff's office.

T'ranis - yes, you can hear the combat ensuing outside of the room, although you have no idea what's going on.

Shadow - sorry, buddy! :)

ooc: Hero - Someone with a mental defect such that when they hear all heck breaking loose, they run toward the disturbance. ;) T'Ranis will continue in his previously stated action.

Haltash, standing behind the prisonner, see the orb thrown at him. The orb explode but his mind quickly seal itself from outside threat and ward itself against the sleep spell. Reflexively, he kneels down, following Guardian suggestion. He then starts to gather his mind to create an astral construct to support his companion against the attack.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Will: 19
Initiative: 9
Kneels down behind the prisonner to get cover.
Manifest Astral Construct power (Manifest time: 1 round). The Astral Contruct will be a level 2 astral construct with the Fly and Cleave abilities[/SBLOCK]

Lori rolls her eyes and casts Shadow Binding (CA P122) on the group.

OOC: Lori's Initiative. (1d20+2=14) Shadowbinding: 10' radius, DC16 Will save or dazed for 1 round and entangled, DC20 Strength/Escape Artist check to break out, full round action to attempt. Lasts for 3 rounds. She'll try to get as many as she can, though she'll give up one of the archers for a shot at the driver. 10' rad should get everyone in a sky cab.

ROUND ONE:

Unidentified Caster: 25
T'Ranis: 24
Crossbowman #3 18
Tondrek: 17
Lori 14
Haltash 9
Crossbowman #2 9
Crossbowman #1 7
Guardian 3
Rukus 3

The caster grins as Shadow drops down, but is perhaps a bit surprised that Haltash did not. He quickly makes a quick motion with his hand (Tondrek notices it's a Magic missile spell; Lori, perhaps due to her angle, does not) and flicks a small coin at Haltash that solidifies into a bolt of pure energy. The attack strikes Haltash straight in the chest, dealing 8 points of damage. The caster also maneuvers the cab closer to the broken glass, although the deck is still perhaps two feet higher than the floor of the office.

T'Ranis can clearly hear the attack, and motions to the sailor near him to continue tying. The job is almost done, but the half-elf nods and finishes it quickly, before drawing his dagger quietly. T'Ranis is able to open the door halfway, and sees into the fight (particularly the interrogation site where Shadow and the Prisoner appear to be dead).

One of the crossbowmen ducks, reloads, and then pops up over the side, again firing at Guardian. The attack hits , but the crossbowman is too far away to get a clear shot on Guardian's exposed face. It still manages to inflict 5 points of damage.

Tondrek is able to draw his shield as chaos erupts around him. Wind cuts into the room from the broken windows, and many of the papers and blueprints flurry around him, beating into his face.

Lori is able to cast her spell, centred on the cab. (OOC: Rather than roll 4 times, and deal with my painfully slow net connection, I rolled in person. I promise, I did not cheat.) Two of the crossbowmen start swatting away at illusionary strands of shadow webbing (the one that shot at Guardian, and the one that fired at Tondrek), although the caster is unaffected. He yells something out to his crew, although no one in the office can hear him, over the howling of the wind.

Haltash is able to begin forming the psionic essences. They start to coalesce near the unconscious prisoner's face.

One crossbowman struggles to break free from phantom bonds, while the other drops his crossbow, and, seemingly unarmed, looks at the caster with a quizical look on his face. The human caster looks at the archer, and yells "Go!" loudly.

The crossbowman shakes his head, and throws a coloured smokestick into the office. The room begins to fill up with hazy yellow smoke, as the crossbowman leaps into the office. He lands gracelessly, and falls to his hands and knees, before he is able to struggle to his feet. He appears to be unarmed.

Guardian is able to position himself between Haltash and the skycab. The grounded raider is only ten feet or so away from the warforged.

Finally, Rukus rushes forward to where Haltash is taking cover, and yells "We have to get out of here! LOOK!" and points towards the sky. Haltash (and guardian) can clearly see the shapes of two more skycabs approaching. Rukus then bends down and slaps Shadow in the face. "Wake up! WAKE UP!"

Shadow is able to awaken, although the first thing he sees is a panicked half-elf. He hears nothing but the howling of the wind. Already, much of the room is filling with yellow smoke.

END OF ROUND ONE.

ROUND TWO (So far)

The caster looks towards his two distracted archers nervously, realizing he is now outnumbered, but committed to the fight with a man on the ground. He continues to lower the sky cab, another three feet (so that the deck is actually lower than the office floor) while casting a spell. It is the same spell he cast before, although this time, the energy fires at Guardian. It impacts the warforged, squarely in the face, dealing 8 points of damage.

[sblock=OOC]Guardian should have only taken 3hp from the x-bow: DR 2/admantine for the plating. I assume Tondrek has some cover from the caster now?[/SBLOCK]Looking for metal on assailaints, Tondrek begins casting a infusion. "Warm!"

[sblock=OOC]If the one on the ground has metal, heat metal him; if Tondrek can poke his head around and affect metal on the vehicle that folks are in contact w/ (the steering would be grand), affect that instead[/sblock]

OOC: My bad on Guardian. I forgot about the DR.

T'Ranis darts in the room, and adeptly pulls off a shot at the mage running the ship. The bolt buries itself square in his chest, causing the man to fall backwards, and over the edge of the railing. He doesn't even scream as he falls (nice shot!)

One of the crossbowmen, still "Ensnared" by phantasmal bonds, tries to make his way towards the helm of the craft, which suddenly begins to sway and tilt precariously in the wind. Through grit teeth, he tries to get closer, but fails.

Tondrek can hit either the man inside the office, or the steerage on the craft (he has a clear line of sight to both; the office is fairly open). However, the helm seems to be made mostly out of wood, so it may not be the smartest idea. Since the only metal on the current remaining attacker is found on the hilt of his (undrawn) blade, should I assume the effect is targeted there?
