Wail of the Banshee

Wail of the Banshee has the Death and Sonic descriptors.

Does a creature need to have an immunity to both descriptors to ignore the effects, or only one?

I personnally think an immunity to either descriptor would prevent the spell from affecting a creature. For example, undead would not be affected, and similarly a creature with an immunity to sonics would not be affected. Correct?

I would say either immunity would work fine. I mean it's death magic, it's not going to work on undead (too late, already dead) even if they hear it. Same thing for a creature immune to sonic (like a PC in a zone of silence). If you can't hear the wail, it can't hurt you.

Otherwise, spells with a lot of descriptors would be more powerful.

Only one is needed. If you can't hear that wail, you can't die of it. They would have to write it down and send it to you (fear mail of the banshee)

Seconding Tatsukun and KaeYoss. How would you handle the spell effect, if you'd decide to have the target to be immune to both descriptors? If, for example, the target is immune to sonic effects but not to death effects, could you ignore the immunity to the sonic effect? That would undermine the power of that immunity; it would be worthless. It seems to go against the nature of immunities to be ignored. :)

Kind regards
